current bounceback offer?

Yeah, we returned from POP last weekend and I can confirm there's no bounceback. We've been doing the free DDP in August for several years now, but we won't be returning next year if all we can get for free is the QSDP.

Frankly, free DDP at the Value Resorts was too good a deal -- which is probably why Disney has pulled it. Over the years, my family became "professionals" at milking it. It was a fantastic deal if you could stay, say, 10 days, buy base tickets (which cost little more than 3 day tickets), and ate and hung out at Disney's best restaurants and fanciest resorts, touring the theme parks at a relaxed pace. All for about $80 a day, plus the tickets. None of my friends believed it, but Disney was actually a cheap (and very nice) vacation this way (with little need or incentive to spend any additional money, except for gratuities at the table service restaurants).

I still think free QSDP at a value resort is a very good deal -- but mostly for Disney newbies. Those of us who have visited many times have "done" the parks; the opportunity to eat for free at some great restaurants was what kept us coming back year after year. (Newbies will be happy exploring the parks, and will find the free QSDP more than adequate.) I'm sure we'd EVENTUALLY return under the new rules, but there's just no reason to rush back. Upgrading to a moderate resort would almost double our room tab, which might still be a good deal, isn't a COMPELLING deal if you've already done the free DDP several times at the much lower price. I'm sure many other value bouncebackers will feel the same way, and Disney will lose some of our business, but I'm not sure it's business they really want to have.

Yes, the values were the way to do it especially back when appi and tips were included. The room was 82 per night plus tax. We had AP so we bought the 1 day and yes, a really great deal. In fact we had the room discount booked for the end of 2008 for 54/night but for the rack rate of 82/night we got food for 3 of us. Actually 92/night since we ended up bringing someone else. We only bought the 1 day pass and even with the ticket that we didn't need we spent less per day than we would have even though we had TIW! I agree with your reasoning that this is why the reg. dining has been pulled, probably why tips/appy also were pulled a couple years ago. Disney does make out when the Deluxe is booked for FD and probably evens out on a mod due to other spendings. It did work to make Sept a much busier time of year and keep all the dining CMs with jobs. My daughter wanted to stay in a mod for our stay this fall, so we are picking the 20% TIW. The FD would have been too many tickets (2 day each) plus the rack rate plus we won't have the TS each day which really to me makes WDW too structured. Too much planning just somehow takes away from the do what you feel like that day approach (which was always how we visited before the onset of the dining Plan-I know WDW had one for years but before FD, not all the bother with res. for TS until the day of!)

I'm hoping that it's a few misinformed CM's and that BB's aren't being done away with. We are going at the end of Nov/beginning of December. So far the FD promotion for next year doesn't extend that late in the year (and that's when we'd like to book a bounce back - Nov/Dec 2011). I'd much prefer to get something booked while we're there then having to wait for public discounts to drop later in the winter or spring. I'm also disappointed if the best discount we can hope for might be FD. At the deluxes the 40% room rate (that we booked with a pin this year and that was offered for the BB last year) is a better deal than FD.

We aren't Disney newbies...and we're looking forward to QSDP. We've 'done' the parks many many times over....and still we find something new to enjoy every year. We have 5 children so we'll continue to go as long as Disney supplies us with a meal plan....even paying OOP for the few TS we've come to enjoy over the years of regular free dining and we come out cheaper than upgrading. I actually think the many years of free TS dining helped us discover a few restaurants that we're now more than willing to pay for....but we realize we do not like many of the others we've tried and can now eliminate those from our trip without wondering what we're missing.

I'm sure there are more folks like you who won't care. Heck, if you know all the (widely disseminated) tricks on "the best" quick serve meals , you could eat very well on the QSDP. Rib-eye steaks, shrimp, gourmet pizza and sandwiches, etc. Indeed, I think my family would struggle to spend that second snack credit every day!

That said, eating in places like Le Cellier, Bomas, Cape May Cafe, Ohana's etc. FOR FREE are good reasons to return to Disney year after year. The quick serve restaurants don't quite pack that punch.

I understand that Disney will let you "pay the differerence" between the regular dining plan and the quick serve plan, and that's something to consider (the agent I spoke to estimated $10/person per day -- although I think I'd just go for the moderate resort at that point, especially for a family of 4). At some point, if the new rules remain in place, I'm sure we'll do that. But we'll delay our return for awhile: it's just not as compelling to visit. I know some folks reading this board may not share my view, but there are other places in the world to spend you vacation dollars. :) If they take away perks, I'll spend fewer of those dollars at Disney.

Most definitely :) It's funny because we eat a lot at home, I cook almost every meal.....so places like Le Cellier, Boma and Cape May were not appealing to us (gasp). We do love Sci Fi and Liberty Tree but we pay OOP for those now....and enjoy CS places like Flame Tree BBQ and the Yak and Yeti CS...etc. But each family will be different, which is a good thing.

I completely get what you're saying though....we used to go to Universal 2 days each trip, but their tickets have skyrocketed and they don't give GA residents any perks anymore like they used to....so we don't go now :( I really wish they'd offer us something to get us back....but sadly it's just not the case. It would cost us 1000.00 just to visit their parks for 2 days, not including souveniers or food...etc. That's not something I'm willing to spend for that experience :( So I totally get where you're coming from about spending vacation dollars elsewhere.

Actually we can't check in on the last day, it's a Thursday. My husband gets 5 days off in a row....so this would lead us to have to check out on the following Wednesday so he could be back to work on Thursday. We'll have to back it up a few days and check in on that previous Saturday then stay till the following Sunday....which will get us right in the door of October. Hopefully F&W festival will start a bit earlier so we won't be pushed too much to see it. I don't really remember it ending on a weekday in previous years....I'll have to check Mousesavers for that information.

We aren't newbies either. I still find the QSDP a great deal at the values. We were actually booked with a bounceback at pop with regular free dining. But when the QSDP came out we switched. It gives us more freedom. And like pp said above we are paying op for a few ts meals. But we didn't want to have to be tied down to adr's for 10 days. When I called to do this the Cm kept asking me if I was sure. I think she thougt I was nuts.:scared1:

I'm going to book for next year the week before we leave. When I put the 200.00 deposit down can I use more than one card.? I have disney rewards I want to use. Plus my debit card.

Is there any new news? Does it still look like the bounceback is the same as the public offer?

I got back on Tuesday and recieved a bouceback offer via email either Sunday or Monday. The offer was the percentage off the rooms until the end of the year.

Well that's promising ... although by this point in the year most people wanting to book a BB would probably be looking at sometime in 2011, not something before the end of the year. An email BB kind of worries me since our email communications from WDW seem to be sporatic at best (ie, the "monthly hello", etc). Maybe TPTB are sending out feelers wrt reinstating the BB policy. :confused3

For us the traditional room discount is a better deal (for deluxe) and I would much prefer to have an offer while we're there and be able to book something without playing the waiting game for an email (BB, pin, whatever). At this point we don't even have FD as an option since we want to book a BB for Nov. 2011. Maybe by the time we go this November they will have something to offer us. DH will never book at rack rate.

We got back on Sept 2nd & we actually had 2 offers in our room. 1 was % off up to the end of the year & the 2nd was free dining through most of 2011. I didn't book because I am looking for a % off next year-free dining is not that great of a deal compared to 40% off for DH, Myself & DD5. I did however call the night before we went home to maybe see if I had a pin for % off & they were having tech difficulties - I couldn't have gotten through if I wanted to book.:confused3

Ha, classic Disney! Several posters told that there would be no BB's offered for 2011, then you get a flier. Still, kind of underwhelming that's it's basically no different than the current public offering. What's the incentive there? :confused3 And what about those of us who want to book for late 2011? So far FD is only being offered to the end of Sept. Does this BB flier at least include the late fall? :confused3

We returned from our stay at CSR last week and had the BB with the Cheshire cat on it for free dining. Buy they also sent an email to me while we were there for a percentage off the room only rate for the rest of the year, with the proviso that it be booked before we checked out. Only problem was I didn't have a phone that let me access email :(. Just thought t strange that I received that in email because usually they only leave the BB in the room... Is this new?

I believe it was till at least Oct 2011

You have me stumped, where can you get a rib eye steak on QS dining plan?

Coronado Springs......rib eye dinner for a 1 CS credit.
Any value foodcourt will have a dinner special for 1 CS, not ribeye, but we have had a good strip steak, a turkey dinner, chicken, at the All Stars. You have to check out the resorts that do not have a sit down restaurant, there you can use a CS for a dinner.....not bad.

Just back 9/7 from the CR. Also had the Cheshire Cat flyer for free dining in our room. There were alot of black out dates, but to be honest, I didn't pay too much attention since free dining is of no interest to us.

What did stand out, however was the BOOK BY DEC 3, 2010 on the flyer.... So I am thinking no new bounceback offers for 2011 will be offered before then :headache:

Not familiar with the bounce back? What is it? :confused3
Its a discount program that you have to book your future trip while you are on property, and you call from your room to x8844. When you call they ask you for your current reservation number, and you give them your future travel dates and they let you know if there are any "bounceback" discounts...
bounceback offers can vary......room only discount, free dining, etc.....

Got back from CBR 10 days ago. We also had the Cheshire Cat/BB flyer in our room for free dining. Doesn't make much sense to me as it is no different that the public offer that's already out there, so what would be the point in booking as a BB?
