Does anyone think that the current AP room discount will be offered to the general public? I have the Disney Visa, but am not arriving until the 18th, so the free dining that was just released will not apply to me. Please, please, please open the AP discount to the public......:worship:

don't know. the cm i talked with said free dining will go to the public. what time on the 18th are you checking in?? can you pay for the 17th as check in day but just get there "late"?

We won't get there until around 1pm on the 18th. From what I have heard, you can not pay for an extra day just to get a discount. If you do not physically check in on that day, then they cancel your reservation. I already have my airfare, or I could just fly down a day early. Plus, I don't think that Allegiant Air has a flight going down on the 17th....

I guess I just don't get why the Visa discount was differnt from the AP and Florida resident discount. Aren't they normally the same? Doesn't the general public normally get the same discount as the AP as well?? :confused3

Can you pls explain the current AP offer that has been extended. We will be checking in on Aug 19, and are thinking of upgrading our one day passes on the FD promo to AP. Will it apply to us too, if it is still avail. :confused3Can't wait to hear the responses. Thanks to all!!!

PigletsPal, I am in the same boat, sort of. We have FD booked 12/17-27...but DS has finals that are messing with our dates...the 18th is a far better option. Our ressies is in my name, and when I called WDW to inquire about the LATEST check in time to still keep promo valid...they said I have to be there on the 17th, (or 1-2 ish in the morning on the 18th, they understand about weather issues etc)and the rest of my party can check in on the 18th, HOWEVER, all dining credits room cost etc is as if the full party is already there..( I could go and eat on all their credits...lol...:lmao:) but that was fine with me, ...but another issue is the cancellation and paid in full policies since it is a package...with room only if anything comes up (we have 2 sets of parents in ill health) we prefer to have the room only/pay balance on arrival/6 day cancel policy. Ultimately, driving is more cost effective for us as well...which would be a very late arrival on the 18th IF weather cooperates from Illinois to Orlando 3rd week of December...:rolleyes1 rental cars are insane at that time and we need one as we are seeing family as well on this trip...SOOOOOOOO, long reply, but yeah, at least the person the ressie is booked under has to get there the 17th. PLUS, we have checked in late like that before, 1 a.m., our room was in no mans land at POP...didn't ruin the trip, but not what we are used to.
I am VERY curious to see how the general public code goes...by way of FD or room discount...I imagine FD,as my thoery is when people have FD, they feel they have spare $ for souveneeer's etc., especially at the Holidays...I think merchandise is where WDW is hurting most right now, and when people are paid in full on a package, they may not watch their $ as tight as having just spent on a meal etc. Again, just speculating, but wouldn't surprise me.
Check out the Dolphin, you may be able to score a decent room rate there, it is our back up plan.

The AP discount is currently a room-only discount good through Dec. 24. How much your room will cost depends on the room type, the season (some dates are value, some are regular and some are holiday), and resort level.

You can book a room with the AP discount before you actually have the APs. So if you want to book a reservation in Oct, Nov or Dec, I'd do it now to ensure that you have a room with the discount. Then buy your AP in August and you're all set.

You cannot get Free Dining with an AP discount, so you can't apply it to your FD reservation (if that's what you were asking).

Usually the discount offered to AP holders is slightly better (depending on hotel, nights etc) than that offered to the general public. Until this past year they rarely offered room-only discounts to the general public. This year they have been, but I'm pretty sure they haven't been quite as good.
For example, the following prices are listed for the discount running from 8/8-10/3
General Public: Value-$69 Mod-$96
AP Holder: Value-$64 Mod - $89
It's not a major difference, but I'm sure it's to give AP holders incentives that the General Public doesn't have.

From the information available thus far it seems the first deal released for the General Public will be Free Dining. They may release a room-only, or other package deal later and make it available to the General Public, but chances are it will not be quite as good as the AP rates.

This depends on what you're asking.
No, you would be unable to receive an AP discount on top of Free Dining for the same trip.

If you're planning on returning to Disney again before the end of the year, then yes. The detailed information is available on this site

During Value season the rate is
Value $54
Mod $89
Deluxe starting at $139 (this varies based on resort choice)
