This is our fourth cruise on the Wonder but the first time we’re considering using pesos. Is there a currency exchange aboard ship or should we do it before we sail?

Not sure of your itinerary but there is a currency exchange in Cabo in the shopping center with fair rates that are better then using USD at stores/ restaurants

Best rates are at your bank at home, however, there is always currency exchange on the boats.

If you do it before you sail, call your bank first. Even in a border city they don't always keep Pesos on hand. There are lots and lots of currency exchanges in Mexico too.

I’ve always read thstvATMs are the best and cheapest to exchange money. Our Bank doesn’t charge a fee. But we go to Mexico every year. You really can get by with US dollars as long as you know the exchange rate

ATMs almost always have the best exchange rate if your bank doesn’t charge a currency conversion fee, but finding the right combination of menu items in the ATM to find get pesos charged in pesos without a dynamic conversion to dollars can be a bit of a challenge. Most ATMs really want to “help” you by billing to your bank in USD (and charging a 3% fee).
