Curious.....borrowed points.....

I waitlisted BLT MK view with borrowed points.....

What would happen if I waitlisted BLT SV and it came through? Do my points stay in this use year or go back to the use year they were borrowed from?

Im thinking they are "stuck" in this use year....but I am curious.

Borrowed points always remain borrowed points. There is no going back. What you would have to do is make sure they used all the borrowed points leaving you with current year points. Then if you were still within your banking timeframe, you could bank the current year points. But if you were past the banking timeframe, the points would expire at the end of the current use year.

Your borrowed points do stay in the UY they were borrowed into. However, if the wait list using fewer points came through more than 30 days out, and if you are still in your banking period and you had current UY points in the reservation as well, MS would use the banked points, and bank the points that could be. If all of your points were borrowed, you may as well keep the more expensive reservation rather than lose the points.

When you borrow or bank, the points take on the new UY and they can not be changed back.

If you put in a wait list and gave them permission to borrow points, those points will not be borrowed until the wait list fills.

Not sure from your post if that has happened or not. If it did, then those points do indeed need to be used in the UY of the trip.
