We are sailing on the Oct 10th to Eastern stopping at St. Croix. I was curious why this cruise is 400.00 more expensive than the Western and other Eastern cruises during the same month??

Also, if they ever reduce the price on a cruise when would they do something like that if at all. I understand that our boat is now 75-80% booked. Is that bad/great/full....??

Thanks

I'd hazard a gues that your is more expensive since it's over a holiday weekend and more people may choose that week to take their kids out of school one less day or to be out of work one less day.

As for discounts, I can't help you there as to when they may give them. sorry

Uhhh... I hate to be a dunce but what is the holiday that weekend??

It's all supply and demand. DCL has a 10+ year history of which weeks booked full and when...and which lagged. They'll set prices accordingly. 75% full isn't nearly where they'd like to be (not sure how you got this info). The real question is what they will do about it--CM discounts, TA discounts, etc. It already has a FL res discount available. An across the board price reduction is a possibility--again, they know what has worked in the past and in what time frame.

The CM told me. Who knows if it's true or not. I keep checking just to see if it will go down. Just wishing!!!

Also, as rooms are sold on a cruise the prices go up. DCL uses the tiered system. Let's say rooms 1-25 are sold at $1000, 26-50 are sold at 1500, 51-75 are sold at 2500...and so on. It could just be that there are more rooms in your category sold on your cruise and that category has increased to the appropriate tier pricing.

Kids are off from school that week for Columbus Day.

Wow, BIG regional differences. California dropped Columbus day years ago as a holiday because it was considered Politically Incorrect. Many schools here do take a week at Thanksgiving now (instead of Thursday and Friday) and a week for Presidents Day, but no Columbus Day. No wonder our kids test scores are so bad, they're never in school anymore!!!

well, here in my little town in CT (and most surrounding towns) we don't get a week off, but we do get Columbus Day off from school. I had no idea that they took that away in CA...very interesting!
