My 5th grade DD is in charge of the "culture shock" section of her elementary school's morning TV broadcast. This morning she just talked briefly about all of the rain we've been getting. I have NO idea what she could talk about tomorrow. What in the world would be appropriate and interesting to these kids!

I'd love to fill it with Disney news!!! What do you think about her talking about the volunteer program that Disney is offering right now?

Yesterday 33% of kids in one school in Id. were out sick. Anything like that going on there?

Not anymore thank goodness! That sounds like our district last month though!

The first thing that popped into my head this morning was that our city is reversing it's no-smoking policy and allowing businesses to choose whether they will allow smoking or not...do you think that's appropriate/interesting for K-5 grades?

I also found info about an upcoming "walk your paws" event but it's not until Halloween.

Maybe she could talk about how Canada celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving this week.

Culture= Art, music, movies, television, fashion. Take your pick. Maybe a different one each day?

Frankly, I'd just give dd some really vague ideas--as in "Well, you could talk about music tomorrow" and let her run with it. I don't see 5th graders as being interested in a no smoking policy but I'll bet your dd knows what they're interested in.
