Anyone bought a cuckoo clock at the World showcase? Anyone have any idea how much they go for? Anyone going next week and willing to have a look at prices for me?? :)

Thanks!

they're about twice as much as you can get them elsewhere, i know that much

Funny you should ask.....
My husband has always wanted one. My memory is that they start around $250 and go way up from there. My husband has tried looking around on the internet for one cheaper and really hasn't found anything. The closest I found once was one on the Disney web-site in the "overstock" or "final sale" section, but it was still over $150 (and that was at least 2 years ago).

I think one of these day we might bite the bullet and buy one, but it would be great if there was anothor place to get one cheaper!

Twice as much is not good. :(

I have always wanted one and thought that it would be more special if I bought it while at Epcot.

But there is special, and then there is unreasonably expensive.

plan a trip to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg the last 2 weeks they are open. A store sells them there drastically reduced for end of season.

I look at them every time we go! Most recently, this past July. The least expensive I remember was in the $300 range and that was of course the smallest.

They are very expensive. The cheapest, is a small plastic clock that runs on batteries. I believe we bought it 2-3 years ago. It is now collecting dust in my grand in-lwas bathroom, that is another story.

I have actually bought 4 in the last year. We have QVC outlets local to us and they have Cuckoo clocks there sometimes at 40-50% off. You can also get them on the QVC website. They are Hubert Herr, from Germany, and a lot of fun. Some of the Cuckoos can be turned off so we change them out.

The "decent" ones start around $400......I always look to try and make DH feel bad, because last summer, he bought a cuckoo clock on his trip to Germany....so it's a hand-made, authentic-as-can-be thing.......and he spent over $1k on it :scared1: so i always like to point out that even epcot's prices are better than that! :rotfl2:

Makes me wonder how much ours is worth. My in-laws bought it in Germany in the early 1970's when my father-in-law was stationed in Belgium. It still works.

If you want a good estimate of what retails should be for good German Cuckoos you might look at the website for Alexander Taron. My Mom owns a store and has bought from them for about 30 years.
