Hi Everyone,

A year or so ago, I saw a thread on the Dis that was all about Cub Scouting websites. I cannot find the thread so I thought I would start a new one.

Share with me your favorites Cub Scouting Websites :cool1:

Please, Pretty Please?

Thanks :flower3:

I'm subscribing 'cause I'm a new den leader this year. I know I have done searches and come up with some Canadian websites that had some good stuff too...I don't think they call them Cub Scouts though. Good luck.

Pooh's Pixie! Welcome to my world! I was the Tiger Leader last year for my Son and this year I am the Wolf Leader. I have also just been recruited to do the Tiger Cub Den again this year because none of the parents would volunteer to do it!

If no one from your Pack has said it to you yet:

Thank you very very much for taking on the responsibility!:)

Thanks! I am actually enjoying it. I am a Tiger leader (I have a partner too so it's not all on me!) and I have a son who is a Bear so I at least feel like I know where I'm going! We have great den leaders who have really helped me in planning and setting expectations.
Wow, you have 2 dens...that's like a part-time job!!! Good luck, and I appreciate the encouragement from a veteran! ;)

I got my achievement trackers from here: http://www.madsenco.com/scouting.shtml.

But then when I did a search to find the site for you I found these trackers which look like they track some of the additional awards like conservation etc: http://www.geocities.com/~pack215/cub-tracker.html

This seems to be a pretty active forum. Just look out for occasional snarkiness. Most of the folks seem nice, but there are always those who are put out by new people not automatically knowing everything:rolleyes: : http://www.scouter.com/forums/

I've been looking for a forum for female leaders but no luck so far. Sometimes you run into some real male bias (both online and in real life) and it would be nice to have a supportive female community online.

Very Cool! I have a tracking thing for excel that someone gave me for the wolves but the ones from these websites are AWESOME!

I am going to take a look at the forum now, I will probably just read a lot at first and then start putting in my two cents :thumbsup2

The sites that everyone has given are great. I am a boy scout committee chair.. made my way from Tiger leader to webelos leader, popcorn chair and committe chair for the cub scouts now the boy scout troop..

Welcome to Scouting...

Oh yea, forgot I'm a Boy Scout Troop Committee Member too. Dnephew was my Cub Scout, is now my Boy Scout and Den Chief.

Just when you think you are getting out they reel ya back in....

wow, looks like there are a lot of Scouters.
Im a Bear leader and our pack tresurer.

Is anyone with a Bear Den interested in communicating with my Den? Maybe we could exchange council patches or something? I know there is a Bear Achievement for communicating, maybe if you havent completed that yet we can work on that together.

PM me if you are interested

I am one of the leaders of a cub scout pack in Barbados, run by the school my kids go to! We don't have "dens". We are organized into packs according to colour (black, blue, green, red, yellow), and there is no subdivision within colours because our troop isn't big enough. We don't call them "tigers" etc. - we go by badge levels (bronze, silver, gold etc.). Our leaders are all Jungle Book characters, with Akela the Lone Wolf at the top, and Baloo, Chill, Rama, etc. being various leader positions. I'm not sure who they settled on for me to be - I guess I'll find out next term! They wanted me to be Akela, but I'm fairly new, so I'm just going to assist the new Akela and stand in for her when she's not available.

My son is about to turn 7, so he's going to be invested this month! Last term he was a "chum" even though he wasn't 7 yet, because I was a leader. Now he can finally become one of the cubs! In our troop they only used to let kids in the year above DS join (i.e. the 7 - 8 year old class, Grade 2 I guess?), but they've decided to make an exception for children of leaders, which is why he can officially join as soon as he is 7, even though our troop would normally not have taken him until September 2007.

I'm always looking for resources too, but we don't seem to follow the American or Canadian way - we follow the British Scouts more I think. Still, any games and activities I can find would be great!

For our "other countries" badge we have been looking at linking with cub packs in other countries. So far we have connections to one in England. If anyone is interested in linking their pack up to our Barbados one, just let me know!

You people are AWESOME! I knew if I came to the DIS and asked, I would get the information!:cool1:
