Has anyone's child taken any of the CTY courses through Johns Hopkins? My daughter is in 7th grade and has qualified for the courses, but I really don't know anything about them except that they are expensive! I'm interested to hear if anyone has done this and if you think it was worth it.

Challenging enrichment courses are always good. Our sons qualified for these courses but never actually took any. They were busy with Boy Scouts and other activities and the cost was prohibitive to us. I have never heard anything but good things about the program.

My dds attended, one went three summers and one went one summer. They enjoyed it very much. Very high quality of classes, instructors, very well supervised, they enjoyed living on a college campus. It was three weeks at the time-don't know if that has changed. (they attended years ago...)
It is expensive though.

My dd did a program last yr and applied for one again this yr, same place. It is at a college 5hrs away from here. She stayed in a dorm for 3 weeks.

FYI, if your dd qualifies there are MANY MANY programs across the USA that she can go to.

However the program applications deadlines are long gone with some of them and some are just starting.

You will have to do digging. We have "DUKE TIP" as opposed to John Hopkins for our area.

But heck, as long as your dd qualifies you can go anywhere and there are many to choose from. Esp. if she has a particular interest.
