Ctgy. 12 guarantee for 4

I thought that I read in the passporter that all Category 12 staterooms only slept 3. But when I look for availability DCL ressies allow me to book a guarantee 12 for 4. Doesn't this automatically ensure me of an upgrade? After this hurricane season I'm seriously considering moving our August reunion cruise to June but am trying to get close to the same price I already have for the 14 of us.

Max is 3 for cat 7. They won't book 4 in a cat 7 gty.

Then why are they booking 4 people in category 12 rooms, I thought they only slept 3?
