CSR -- Why do you like it so much?

The best mod of the bunch. Great main pool area, terrific non shared transportation, elevators in all buildings, live entertainment and a great food court! Never a bad stay at this place. It's like two vacations in one.

I am thinking of staying at the CSR next August - last time we stayed at CBR - loved it, but would like to try something new. When is the busy time for conventions? I'm thinking not August am i right or wrong?

thanx

CSR is a convention resort so there are conventions all the time. The slow time is Thanksgiving and x-mas holidays. Having convention folks make the pools and buses less crowded. Then can have an impact on the Pepper Market at times but I don't think you will eat every meal of your trip at the PM.

This is what I found for August but this is not a complete list. Only what I could find on google.

Aug 2008, Florida Recreation and Park Association
August 17 - 21, SMTA
Aug 20-23, Celebration of Spirit Path of the Warrior Trans Global Summit
Aug 22 - 28, IOA convention

Hi, We stayed at CSR in Aug 2007. I wouldn't say I am in love with it, but I enjoyed my stay there very much. :)

The only other mod we stayed at previously was POR 2x, so that is the only mod I can compare it to. POR and CSR are both beautiful resorts, imo, but I chose CSR last year because I heard the bus service was pretty good. I had some bad bus experiences at POR in 2005 and as much as I love the pretty grounds at POR and have nostalgic feelings towards our first stay at Dixie Landings, I don't wish to return to POR due to the bus service. CSR's bus service WAS pretty darn good and that is the single most reason I would go back.

I was not a big fan of the Pepper Market, but it was no worse than the food court at POR. On the whole, I didn't really find the PM experience better either. PM has delicious pizza in the grown up section, which is different and much better than the pizza in the kid's section. We usually did the take out at PM to avoid the gratuity PM charges. That worked out well. I noticed others coming out of PM with their pizza boxes too. Looked like we weren't the only ones taking it back to our air conditioned room to enjoy. :cloud9:

I would not hesitate to stay at CSR again. :goodvibes

I could probably type a book listing the reasons my DH and I love the CSR (and the kids too...but they don't go with us anymore). I'll just highlight some of the things that make us love CSR and which makes us keep coming back--7th time will be in September for our 25th anniversary--and my DH gave me choice of Poly for our special anniversary--but I chose our "second home--CSR."
Have a great trip!

CSR is our favorite because it offers so much more than the other moderates. A great food court, terrific bus service and an awesome main pool area. Then there is a spa, salon, fitness center, full menu room service, a few lounges, beautifully maintained landscape and it simply gorgeous at night.

This thread has been really helpful :thumbsup2 ! We had been planning on staying at POP, but decided that might be too much stimulation after a day at the parks. I've been checking out CBR, CSR abd POFQ tonight, and feel that CSR is probably the best fit for us. Thanks for great information!!!!!!!!
You won't be disappointed. Have a great trip!

we stayed at CSR last July (the week of July 4th). Before we got there, I was really nervous about staying there because it was "only" a moderate. On previous trips we have stayed at SOG (1 time) and the Contemporary (4 times); but this time we were going with my sister and her family and she was trying to keep the cost down a little bit. I admit I was a hotel snob!! But, let me tell you it exceeded all of my expectations. When we checked in there was only one other family in front of us and then it was our turn. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the Pepper Market, and our rooms were clean. In fact in my room the carpet was still damp - I guess they washed it - it smelled really clean. One of my favorite parts about the room was that there was a curtain that you could pull over and use as a changing room right outside the bathroom (all of the resorts should have this). The bus service was good also. We only had to stand once during the week we were there (and that might have been on the 4th of July). Most times the busses were empty. We never waited more than a few minutes for one (I guess our timing was good). I also liked the gift shop (that's a little weird, right?). I found almost all of my souveniers right there. We did leave our housekeeper a small tip everyday ($5) and everyday she would right us a short not thanking us.

We are going to Disney this summer (in August) and we will be staying at the Contemporary this time. We are a family of 5 and to get two rooms at CSR was going to be more money than the Contemporary. Last trip my sister only had 3 people in her room, so my son stayed in their room. (we also had connecting rooms). I'm a little disappointed that we aren't staying at CSR again. I think we are going to try to have lunch at the Pepper Market (it counts as a counter service meal on the dining plan).
Thanks for sharing!
