CSR to Boardwalk area

I know at one point in time a bus ran from the Boardwalk area to CSR and vice versa. Does anyone know if this bus still runs? Possibly planning a business related trip where the conference is at CSR but since it would be adults only I thought I might upgrade to a Boardwalk area hotel and just have husband take bus over to CSR from the boardwalk for his meetings. I'm also going to post this on the transportation board but I know the DISer's on the resort board will know the answer. :)

Yes, it still runs back and forth CSR/BWI.
Because CSR is the only moderate convention hotel; they have to offer this for night time activities for convention attendees at CSR.

A recent post by Chip N Dale Express (a CM who currently drives one of the Disney buses) said the CS-BW bus is NOT running any longer. If you do a search, I'm sure you will find it.

Even when the bus did operate, I'm pretty certain it only ran after 4 p.m.

That stinks! I was there in May and it was still running. It only ran in one direction. From CSR to BW to DtD. So to get back you had to go to DtD first. No one knew about it because I questioned alot of CM's. You should check when you are there Chess just to be sure. It could be the same situation.

During our recent June trip there was a bus running after 4pm to BW then DD, but no return service. We took the CSR bus to BW one night around 4:30 b/c we had never been. We figured we would hang out there and head over to MGM via the friendship boats for dinner. Ha! The boats were slow as molasses and few and far between. After 30 minutes we went out to the buses and there were none. We waited over and hour just to get on the boat. We had no choice-we were stuck. I thought BW transportation, atleast while we were there, paled in comparison to CSR with it's speedy buses whenever you need them.

One other thing to keep in mind...

If the convention your husband is attending has rooms blocked at CSR, there may be certain things that are placed on doors or put in rooms of attendees, and if you are not staying in that block (meaning under that group code...not necessarily all together in one location) of rooms (either under a different rate at the same resort or at a totally different resort...especially in that case), he in all likelihood would not receive them. I used to work at a convention hotel, and often conventions would have packets made up to be distributed to the rooms of those staying in the convention room block. On more than one occasion, people ended up at the front desk absolutely furious that they had missed sometimes vital information pertaining to the conference (in at least one conference, there was a significant change in the time of an off-property event that was the core of the meeting...it was moved up by an hour, and several people ended up stuck at the hotel or having to pay a huge taxi fee as the location was far away from the hotel). When their reservation was checked, they were not booked with that convention and after some questions would finally admit that they thought they could get a better rate using AAA or some other discount.

It doesn't always happen, but it is something to think about.

Thanks for all the information. Mickeyluv71 how did you know I was planning to make my own reservation. The meeting is at the end of January and they are saying they have a great rate of $120 per night but I know that at that time of year a better rate is between $89-99 with a code. I guess I'll check with my DH and decide how he wants to book. Now to arrange childcare.

I'm surprised that the boats took that long, but there is a walking path from BW to MGM that you could have taken.

You're welcoms Chess. I just took a guess since you were asking about the bus and said you were thinking of upgrading to a Boardwalk area hotel. Not every group does things like put notification on the doors, or have stuff put in rooms, but I heard the fallout from the front desk at the hotel I worked at (this was in Nashville...had nothing to do with Disney in any way) several times (the reservations office was right behind the front desk and we occasionally had "front of the house" errands that took us through the lobby. It's just something to think about.
Good luck with the decisions and the child care arrangements!

Its too bad this perk was eliminated. Last Dec it was running & worked out great. Left Epcot thru the back door. Stopped on the Boardwalk for refreshments and back to CSR. Didnt have to walk all the way back to the main gate with all the other folks. Caused me to spend more money on refreshments. lol
