I need suggestions.

We are going to be at CSR for 5 days / 4 nights in September. (FYI, we have a 3 year old)

Last year was our first time ever staying on property and we stayed at CBR. We opted to pay for a preferred room, and I was very happy with how close we were to the pool and to dining.

However, with the layout of CSR I can't decide on where we really need to be. We plan on eating at Pepper Market two or three times, depending on if we need to come back for naps (we did last year) and I know my son will want to visit the dig site pool a few times as well.

What are your suggestions?

We stayed at CSR last time and loved it. We happened to get Casitas building 5. We loved Casitas. Next time I'm going to book the preferred location which is Casitas 1, 2, or 3. We liked being near the Pepper Market and the quiet pool was right there nearby.

The dig site pool was a bit of a walk, but it was such a nice walk over to there and nothing like the walk clear around CBR. To me CBR is much bigger. CSR only has 3 villages.

There was also a playground over near the dig site area.

There are a few pictures of CSR on our 2012 trip report below. It's not much of a report..mostly just pictures.

Have fun!!

We stayed in Ranchos 7b. We had a great quiet pool room.. Upstairs.. 2 minutes from the dig pool and 7 from the main lobby... It was such a nice spot. Bus stop was right outside too.. Ranchos 7B is my favorite

We've stayed at CSR twice and each time was in the Ranchos section. It was a decent walk (about 7-10 minutes) to El Centro but the main pool was a mere 60 second walk. We also had a lovely quiet pool right outside as well as laundry facilities. The walk to El Centro wasn't bad either; the scenery is beautiful and DD was able to expend some pent up energy in the morning and evening!

If you're looking to be close to El Centro, Casitas (especially buildings 1, 2 and 3, which are preferred rooms) is where you'll want to request.

I'd recommend booking business class over preferred. The price difference is minimal. Business class guarantees you a room in Cabanas 9B which is a stone's throw to Pepper Market, and a short walk across the bridge to the dig site. Preferred rooms are in Casitas which are near the main building, spa, and gym but a further walk to the dig site. Also, business class gives you access to a lounge that has morning and evening snacks, continental breakfast, and alcohol. Business class is worth it for the guaranteed location alone, so the added lounge is a good perk.

We love the Casitas section. Love the theming. It's very pretty with lush greenery and fountains. We booked a preferred building one year, trying to minimize the walking to El Centro. That worked well for us on that trip. But even Buildings 4 and 5, which are not preferred, are just as convenient and may actually be a few steps closer to parking. Those buildings are also convenient to the fitness center. And there is a quiet pool in the Casitas section.

Casitas is a little bit of a walk to the Dig Site, but it's really not that bad. I think that Casitas is a good balance between proximity to El Centro and proximity to the Dig Site.

Thanks everyone. I changed to a business class room. It wasn't much more, and I think we'll enjoy the location and the lounge.

Thanks for the info!

Ditto! Loved, loved, loved, this location! :thumbsup2

I see the IWCLA Annual Meeting will be going on in November while we are there. Is there a way of finding out how large of a group that is?
