We're doing a quick trip to Disney to celebrate my DS passing the 3rd grade reading FCAT (and making it to 4th grade) and DD's good grades. We're trying to do an inexpensive trip. Two nights, no park passes, Blizzard Beach on Saturday. I need help choosing between CSR and ASMo. We are trying to be inexpensive, but since we'll be spending time at the resort I'm wondering if we shouldn't pay the extra ($66) to stay at CSR.

Any opinions? We've stayed at CSR and really liked it, but have never been to the AS hotels. I tried to get into CBR since it's so close to BB, but it is sold out. Help! My DH just grunts when I ask him what to do.

Well, I would definetly return to CSR if you plan on spending time at the resort. There is so much more to do there as far as recreation and amenities, plus, I found it very relaxed and quiet when we stayed there. I've only stayed at ASSports, and that was fine for what we needed--just a place to sleep and nothing more. It wouldn't be my choice if I were just having a resort vacation. It was very chaotic when I was there and everyone was at the pool because there was just nothing else to do. Hope this helps!

In my opinion, if you are trying to save money and plan to be at the parks all day, All stars are adequate. But not if you want to be at the resort for more than sleep. There are no amenities, limited food options other than a food court, and smaller than CSR. I say it is well worth the money! :)

And the food court is less expensive and has more kid friendly options than CSR which has a peculiar food court, and a big convention clientel. I'm an adult and I"D choose movies over CSR. for the $66 difference, you could also play miniature golf, and have ice cream.

I looked at some pictures on the wdwig.com site. It doesn't look like the ASMo has a pool slide. Am I missing it? That would be a definite negative for my water puppy kids! Yes, even after a day a BB they'll be swimming in the pool!

After viewing the pictures I think we might be happier at the CSR -anemities (bikes, paddle boats, and water mice) and pool area. I do want to try the AS resorts sometime - the theming looks cool!

Thanks for the input! The DIS boards are the best!!

We have stayed at both, and I would say CSR is your best bet if not going to the parks. ASMo does not have a pool slide, so that in itself may be the determining factor. It is a great place for the money, but more so for trips where parks are your focus. Have fun.:D

I've stayed at both and CSR wins hands down. (I'll never stay at an AS resort again, even if it's just a place to sleep and eat.) The pool is better (slide, neat theming), the resort itself is pretty and quieter but still kid friendly, the rooms a bigger, the service is better, and there are more recreation options available.

I would stay at Coronado Springs for the Dig Site (pool) alone. Coronado Springs has way more recreational facilities including: boating, bicycle rentals, swimming (4 pools) oversized whirlpool, playground, volleyball, 2 arcades and more! This is a lovely resort to walk around and soak in the atmosphere.

i've also stayed at both. if you are going to be spending time at the resort, i would go with csr -- i love their pool (and their pool bar! LOL) :p

Curious why you say it would be an additional $66 at CSR. Fl.Res. Code for up to 7/4 (code AEG) is $59 values and $74 mod. - difference of $15 per night. Code RGK (7/4-8/23) is $69 and $84 still $15 per night or $30 for the 2 nights. Also you said you initially tried CBR to be closer to BB. CSR is the closest of all resorts to BB, practically across the street. If you do chose CSR it will be really easy to check out AS for future reference as they are also very nearby. You can't go wrong with either choice.

We are big All star fans so for a savings of $66 a night definatley would consider ASMo :smooth:

I also vote CSR. I thought the big figures at AS Movies were cute, but I'd definitely choose a moderate over it if you are going to stay at the resort a good bit.

We spent a lot of time at CSR this past trip and it has my vote hands down for amenities!!!! Also, we loved the food court. The nachos were awesome!

Using the Fla Residence codes the best I could get was $66 at ASMo (tried through AAA and CRO) or $99 at CSR. There were no standards available at CSR - so we have a water view.

diathoney...

Did you decided between All Stars or Coronado? I was wondering what your decision is :) .

gumdrop - I JUST cancelled my ASMo reservation about 10 minutes ago! We decided it was worth the extra $$ for the amenities at CSR. My kids weren't happy about staying at a hotel without a waterslide! We like the extra square footage in the room too.
