I just booked a long weekend as a surprise to my daughter for her Sweet 16th Birthday. We'll leave the day after her birthday and I've surprised her with MNSSHP tickets as well.

We've stayed at many different resorts but Poly has become our favorite during our past few trips. Is it hard to do a moderate after doing a deluxe for many trips? As well, we've stayed at POFQ but since that's not open, I've opted for CSR. Can anyone give me the inside scoop on the pros/cons of this resort?

Thanks everyone!

You're correct, it is difficult to do a moderate if your favorite is a deluxe but I think you'll be satisfied with CSR. Check out my CSR website below for info and pics.

We stayed at CSR in March for our first trip to WDW so I can't really compare it to the Deluxes. But we were very impressed with the resort. Pictures don't do it justice. We rented mouseboats and surrey bikes one day. The Dig Site is the large pool area and it is really impressive.

To address some of the complaints that I have heard:

(1) It is a convention resort. Never affected us at all. In fact, I think it works to your advantage because the buses going to the parks were not as packed as other resort buses I saw.

(2) The resort is so huge that it takes 15 minutes to walk from Ranchos to El Centro. The only way I can see it taking that long is if you walked REALLY slow. We stayed in the Ranchos and it took us 5 minutes max.

(3) Pepper Market is really confusing and expensive. Not at all. You pick out the food you want, it is prepared right in front of you, you eat, then you pay. We enjoyed eating at the Pepper Market, there is a large variety of food to choose from and we liked everything we ordered. Yes it could get expensive the more food you order but that is no different than eating anywhere else.

Have fun, and don't worry, you will love it!

We have stayed at all levels and found CSR to be more between a deluxe and mod. The room is definitely a moderate, but has all the necessary amenities. The commom areas of the resort are very upscale. The pool area is wonderful and the Pepper Market is a nice change from a food court (no paper products!). CSR is our favorite resort $$$wise.

We loved staying at CSR! We stayed at the Cabanas which is close the pool, bus stop and front desk/Pepper Market. The pool is great and the hot tub large, plus there are hammocks along the beach and a large playground.

The rooms will be smaller than a deluxe resort's but as susy stated, the amenities are between the other moderates and the deluxe. I think that is to attract the convention business.

For many years we've stayed at DVC resorts, which are delux. Last year we did a last minute trip, staying at CSR. We got lucky (IMO) by having a 1st floor pool view in the Cabanas. It was terrrific. We were 5 steps from the pool, and a short walk to the main building.

IMO this is the best moderate resort (stayed at CBR many years ago). Very clean, great main pool. The rooms are a little smaller, but Disney clean and cheerful.

If a moderate suits your budget, I would not be hesitate to stay at CSR.

We have stayed at the CSR several times and always go back for more. It has become our favorite moderate resort. This resort is really spread out, so we request the Casitas or the Cabanas. The ranchos look really nice, but when we stay 10days at a time, the walk get long as the week goes on.
We have stayed in the Cabanas 8B & 9B and in the Casitas #3. Honestly we prefer the Casistas, and always request the 3 amigos courtyard view and a corner room.
The Pepper Market has something for everyone and the Maya Grill has a wonderful breakfast buffet. We like to come back from the parks and sit in Franciscos and have a Margarita and snacks, while the kids are down in the arcade.
The main pool is great, but they also have several quiet pools that you'll find not crowded as the main pool.
You can also rent water sprite, paddle boats and bikes to ride around the grounds, or just grab a hammock along the lake in the Cabana section and relax.
Like I said we have been back to CSR several time and each and every time is better then the last.
