While I've never been a guest during this convention, I worked at the resort during it. As far as conventions go, these folks are generally very nice, pretty quiet and all over boring for non-convention guests. Definitely not on the list of conventions to avoid, I wouldn't worry!

Grainger is infamous amongst everyone, CMs and guests alike. It's its own animal, and there really isn't another convention that rolls through that comes close to that one. Pretty much every other convention is quiet, laid back, and generally non-invasive. They occasionally set it up so there are shuttles running for the convention guests, which can be a bother since normal guests can not use them, but other than that you won't find that level of crazy convention stuff with any others.
Of course, that's not to say some conventions don't leave their share of stories amongst CMs, but the guests rarely notice!
Good to hear. I was just reading that the Tea Party is having a convention during the time I am booked at CSR in August. Was a little nervous, especially after reading the Granger thread.

We're still trying to confirm the Tea Party - the webpage that referenced the convention has been removed. I don't know if that means the event has been canceled or not - seems like people would need to know how to register, etc. if it they were still having the convention. The Republican National Convention is in Tampa during the same time frame, so maybe they are going to Tampa instead.
The Florida Police Athletic League Board of Directors will be there for a few days at the end of August (can't imagine they would cause any trouble ), and there is a film festival over Labor Day weekend. I expect the Film Festival will be entirely in the convention center, so you might not see them at all.
There has been at least one convention every time we have been to CSR, and we haven't noticed more than people with nametags and much emptier buses and pools than we would expect given the size of the resort. Most conventions are self-contained, even if they are larger. Some are very small - a single church is having a marriage retreat at CSR in June. But I'm not sure I'd stay at CSR during Grainger week unless I planned commando park touring. We like to spend every afternoon hanging at the resort, and CSR has always been great for that when we have been there.
