CSR complimentary room upgrades ??

I've read quite a few times here on the boards about people getting "no-charge" room upgrades either after they ask if any are available, or occasionally it just being done automatically.

Has anyone ever gotten a room upgrade at CSR?
And what would a upgrade be at CSR other then, say, standard view to water view?
A suite or JR Suite maybe???? (Wow wouldn't that be nice !)

We got an upgrade to a waterview at CSR . It was nice and the ONLY upgrade we have ever received at a Disney resort! A suite upgrade WOULD be nice, but surely a rare event.

In March, we had 2 standard view rooms booked, when we checked in the CM at the front desk said "you have been upgraded to a suite" I then said that we have 2 rooms booked and he told me that both reservations had been upgraded! We ended up with 2 Junior Suites in Casitas 1, 4th floor water view. They were next door to each other. It was great!

Yes, it was a great way to start our vacation! It was great having the suite, I could put my DS to bed in one room and I could stay up watching TV or reading in the next room without worrying about waking him!

I didn't fax in any requests. When I made the reservation the only request I made was for the Cabanas section. I did find out that our originally assigned rooms were in Cabanas 8A. I had ordered a gift basket for my Mom who was staying in the second room and it was delivered to the room in Cabanas 8A first. We didn't check in until about 5:00pm and when the CM said upgraded to a suite, I didn't question if the rooms were in the Cabanas. As it turned out, we loved the Casitas area, it was so close to the food court and my DS loved exploring all the different fountains in the Casitas area.
