CSR -- area recommendation

My family will be staying at CSR in September. While we have been to WDW many times, this is our first stay at this resort. We will be traveling with our 13 yo son and 9 yo son. Can you recommend a section of the resort where it would be a short walk for them to go to the arcades. I would also like to be a short walk to the main pool. Is there a advantage to one area over another for bus service?:

the cabanas section is most convenient to everything. we prefer the casitas cause it's the prettiest. it you Do stay in the cabanas, do NOT make the mistake of always taking the shortest route to everything and missing out on the hidden treasures of the resort (esp. walk THROUGH the casita at night (not just along the main promenade along the lake) there are hidden fountains, rotundas, etc.

the cabanas is also closest to the main pool, and arcade (although SOME rooms at roanchos are close to the main pool and arcade, but very far from el centro)
like I said, please take the time to explore the WHOLE resort... quite beauitful!!!

well, cabanas is the most convenient overall, but one of the casitas is attached to el centro. I just agree with the first post, wherever you stay, wander around the entire resort. It's amazing.

Cabanas is closest. We stay in Casitas every year and have been in building 4 or 5 the last several trips. It took me about five to seven minutes to walk to the Dig Site (main pool) from our room last year. It took me about five minutes to walk to the Pepper Market where I walked each morning after my shower to get my DH and I coffee, etc.

Depending on what you want to be close to, here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Make your room request as soon as you make your reservation.

Rancho 7b is an underrated location. I love cabana 8a.

Where are the arcades? Being close to the arcades, is probably my first priorty as my boys will want to walk there alone.

The arcade is located at the main pool. Cabana 8a might be your best bet. The resort overall is very relaxing and quiet so noise shouldn't be an issue.

One more question, I think I read there are several bus stops. Which areas are picked up first?

Park buses start at bus stop 2 and end at bus stop 1. Downtown Disney and park exit buses start at bus stop 1 and end at bus stop 4. They do this so guests can get to and from the main building and get closer to their rooms. There are signs posted at the bus stop on how to use the buses.

I personally think the Ranchos is the quietest section. We like 6A as it is right by bus stop 3 and close to main pool and quiet pool. The Cabanas are close to the main pool, and sometimes get that noise. The Casitas has more foot traffic in the AM as the conventions get going. But... you really can't go wrong in CSR IMHO.

Arcades are located by the main pool and at El Centro.
