I GOT MY JOB!!!!!! I will be starting this coming Monday (August 22nd) my very first job as a Crime Scene Technician. I am so excited, especially since I got one of the most coveted positions around here. The competition was cut-throat, including but not limited to a three hour polygraph examination!!!!

I went in yesterday to talk to my future boss and I thought I was going to have to suit-up immediately and start working. They only had two people available and they had TWO bodies pop up in separate ponds!!!! :scared1:

I Can'T WAIT TIL MONDAY! :cloud9:

Congratulations!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
We knew you could do it! Best of Luck!!! :magnify:
Enjoy your new career!!

Thanks!!!! I definitely will post a picture if y'all promise not to laugh! Our Tyvek suits (for actual scenes) are soooo funny! They look like footy pajamas and they are white!!! Everyone calls them "bunny suits" :rotfl:

Just curious but, how long did it take you altogether with college, medical training, etc. and did you have to get the 6 week training class in Virginia at the FBI headquarters to do forensics? :confused3

I did just the four year University. I majored in Criminal Justice, but I took a few forensic sciences classes. The majority of the stuff we do is out in the field. We have one person working in the lab. I am not big on science aspect. I am more in the Criminal Justice aspect (collecting the evidence, properly labeling, testifying in court, etc.). One thing we do that is very hard is attend autopsies. A lot of people don't realize that, but its one of the most important components.

Congratulations! Such an interesting profession. :cheer2:

Oops, I forgot to mention that I will be taking training classes one-on-one with someone when I first start and the department will be sending me to conferences all over Florida (but mostly in Jacksonville). I am so excited because we get to choose something to specialize in. One girl chose Forensic Art (composite sketches, etc.) and she just completed a series of courses with the FBI as well as a class on facial reconstruction!

Congrats from a fellow forensic scientist! Without field people, us DNA people would have nothing to do. It's amazing how specialized the area of forensic science is.
