I have been to Starring Rolls for lunch, and I know lots of people lament the lack of decent CS options at DHS. Is there anywhere else worth trying for my next trip or should I just stick to those sandwiches at Starring Rolls?

Thanks!

I lik the Backlot Express, it has sandwiches/hotdogs. I always get a grilled veggie sand. which is good and cheesecake. They also have a hot turkey sandwich.

Also the area down by Tower of Terror has Fairfax Faire if you want a huge rib platter ( I don't eat meat but my brother got this and loved it). There's also tons of other options down there too.

I agree that the area by ToT is a good option. There are a few areas that have different foods. Generally, DHS is the burger and fry park. I like to go with the different type of choices when possible since the burgers are easy to find. So I might be inclined to stick with Starring Rolls.

I don't agree with previous poster that DHS is a burger and fry park. You just have to know where to go.

Yes, Rosie's All American Cafe and Backlot Express have burgers and fries but Backlot Express also has a Grilled Turkey & Cheese sandwich and a Grilled Vegetable Sandwich.

Have you tried Studio Catering Company?
They have a Greek Salad, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Pressed Tuscan Deli, and Turkey Club. For Dessert, they offer Chocolate Fudge Cake and Marble Cheesecake.

How about ABC Commissary? They have Chicken Curry served with rice, Fish and Chips, Asian Salad, Cheeseburgers and Chicken Bleu. Not the greatest dessert selection with Chocolate Mousse or No Sugar Added Strawberry Parfait.

Farefax Fare on Sunset Boulevard by ToT has 1/2 Chicken served with coleslaw and baked beans, 1/2 Slabe of St. Louis Ribs served with baked beans and coleslaw, Beef Brisket served with cole slaw and kaiser roll, Chicken and Beef Brisket served with baked beans and coleslaw, Chicken and ribs platter served with baked beans and coleslaw, Ribs and Beef Brisket platter served wth baked beans and coleslaw. For dessert they have Carrot cake and Chocolate fudge cake.

And of course Toy Story Pizza Planet has garden salads, individual cheese, pepperoni or veggie pizzas and an Entree Chicken Salad.

We struggled with this to the point that we made an additional ADR for lunch (50's Prime Time) and figured we'll just pay out of pocket ;). We already have a TS meal for dinner planned at Cape May that day and are on the DP.

When we were considering CS, I did look into Starring Rolls. They have some yummy looking sandwiches. I just didn't like that they only had 1 option for kids (again, we're on the DP). We also considered Pizza Planet, but we eat pizza so much anyway...which led us to 50's Prime Time.

ABC Commissary gets a lot of bad reviews on this board, but we've ate there twice and it was good both times. DH and DS bot burgers, I got a Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich. ABC doesn't have a toppings bar but it was still decent burgers and sandwiches. We've also eaten at Backlot Express, once again it was good everytime we've ate there.

I think the problem with DHS is it just doesn't have any really great CS places like the other parks. The food offerings at CS just isn't as good as say Epcot or MK.

I was pleasantly surprised by Pizza Planet on our last visit. It gets lots of bad reviews, but we really enjoyed it.

The Commissary was hands-down the worst meal we've ever had at WDW...but we held it up against Disney standards. In the real world, it wouldn't be so bad.

We're giving Starring Rolls a try on our next trip.

I would recommend the ABC Commissary and even though others on here don't seem to like it and that is their right not to, I have always enjoyed eating there and never had a bad meal there and I think they have a great atmosphere.

There is a sandwich at the Backlot Express that is one of my FAVORITES anywhere !!!! This is the most under-rated sandwich anywhere !!! It is on a multigrain bread & the way the peppers/turkey/cheese are blended together, this is one my must haves every trip !!!!

Grilled Turkey & Cheese - with arugula and red peppers served with French fries or carrot sticks $8.69

Also, the french fries are the BEST. I am not a big french fry fanatic, but these are hot/fresh & oh so yummy !!

:santa::santa::santa:

We've never had a problem there either and have eaten there 3 or 4 times.

Catalina Eddies has the most amazing hot Italain sandwich. It is right outside RnR.

We ate at Fairfax Fare in August and the food was pretty decent. Not on a level with Flame Tree BBQ but not bad.

When the kids and I were there last Dec., I ordered a sandwich to go from Starring Rolls and then headed over to Pizza Planet for the kids. The sandwich was delicious and the kids enjoyed their pizza. Oh yeah, and the peanut butter cupcake at SR was absolutely delicious and HUGE!
