What are your thoughts on these two resorts trying to decide between them for a three night stay in June 2003. Any feedback is wanted.

I like both, but prefer CS. In my opinion, CS has the better pool and the best bus transportation of any of the moderates. Some people feel that it is "too spread out" but if you stay in the Cabana section, you are pretty close to everything. Some people don't like that they have conventions at CS, but we found the buses to be less crowded since other hotel guests were in meetings while we were off to the parks. As I said, both are nice and you would probably enjoy your stay at either.

We have stayed at both and like POFQ better. CS is nice, just very spread out and can be a walk to/from the bus depending on where your room is.

POFQ is much smaller and more compact. Everything is close (food court, pool, bus stop) and has only 1000 rooms compared to others which have 2000-3000. Makes a big different getting in and out of the foodcourt, etc. It is also nice being on the river. THe pool is nice and if you have kids, they will love the serpent tongue slide .. Can also take a leisurely (yes, LEISURELY) ride to downtown disney (if you are on a time schedule, take the bus). You can also walk to POR on a bike path, rent bikes, paddle boats and surrey bikes if you like. We like POFQ the best and are staying there again in Dec. We find we keep going back to it ...

I much prefer CSR over POFQ for many reasons. I like a more exotic setting. I think the execution of the theme at CSR is done better. There is more variance in the architecture. I like the openess of the lake setting. I like the food court. The resort is very large but I don't mind a few minutes more walking to get my prefered theme.
POFQ is slightly bland to me and feels more motel like, though a very nice motel. :) The water view rooms are not as expansive. I thought the food court was just okay. It is much easier to get around and I like the idea of it being a little neigborhood with streets, beautiful sidewalks next to gree ( sometimes flowering) gardens, and the room decore was nice.

CSR all the way! Check out my reasons and pictures at my website below. Good luck deciding!

POFQ over CSR hands down. I love the atmosphere, the smallness of the resort, the ease getting to the bus stop, which is on the sidewalk, not across the parking lot like most stops at CSR. I love the pool, love the river. Like the food court. I found it to be much quieter than CSR.

Hi kcsquarepants!

Are you related to spongebob?? LOL! Could not resist!

We stayed at CSR and really liked it. It is a nice walk around the lake but it is pretty far depending on which building you stay in. I am going to POFQ in Nov so I can compare the two then. I choose POFQ mainly because my mom, DD and I are going on the trip and my mom did not want to have to walk too far from our room to the bus stop & food court. Stayed at ASmu last year and we were in one of the buildings the furthest away from the bus stop & food court which my mom did not like!!! We did stay in POR (was Dixie Landings when we were there) mansions. We really liked it too. I haven't stayed in a Disney resort I didn't like yet!!!

While CSR probably is more realistic, I want fantasy while at Disney and POFQ is definitely more "whimsical" and colorful.
For example, the pool area has character statues that spray water where CS has rock statues.
We didn't care for the way the food court works at CS... you get your food from various stations with a stamped card and have to keep up with a card for each person, but a waiter brings drinks and shows you to your table so you end up tipping for a food court.
To CS credit, the bus service is better than PO. CS has it's own bus where POFQ shares with POR so sometimes the buses get very crowded (but POFQ is the first stop so you can usually get a seat to the parks and get off first when returning).
As for the rooms, POFQ has 2 sinks where CS only has one (at least in the rooms where we've stayed). It's not a big thing, but a nice convenience for us to have the extra.

Have a great trip which ever you choose.

Cathy

We stayed at CBR in June 2000 and then recently at CSR in June 2002. Though we enjoyed CBR-beautiful grounds, good service, etc, we fell in love with CSR!!! Plan to stay there again if we can't swing a deluxe. It felt a step above CBR with the spa and gym. The service we received from CSR was incredible with special treatment and services for my birthday and our engagement (a complete surprise to me!!)
We didn't care for the food at the Pepper market but to each his own-note that the 10% was easily taken off the bill for "to go" or if we didn't feel it was warranted. CBR food court was gross everytime we tried it on our last trip.
The resort at CSR is so nice and each section is differently themed rather than just different colors like CBR. The pools at CSR are bigger and nicer in my opinion than CBR. CBR's quiet pools were just...well... a pool. But CSR, even the quiet pool is themed. In our Ranchos section there were rocks and plants and trees. A beautiful resort.
There seemed to be conventions going on during our trip but we didn't notice. I think it is better b/c the food court is less crowded and pools are comfortable.
Buses were a million times better than CBR. We rarely waited more than 5 minutes at CSR this June and we always had a seat. At CBR in June of 2000, we not only waited, but had to make 5 stops to all the villages. Half the time when a bus finally pulled up we had to wait til another one came b/c it was filled.
I guess because we just had such a magical trip, and CSR helped us with that magic with complimentary upgrades to a king bed/water view and birthday cards and so much more, we are now CSR fans.
Good luck!

We made that same decision about our October trip. We were all set to stay at CS, but I couldn't get the discount rate for the entire time, and DH didn't want to move resorts in the middle of our stay, so we are staying at PO-FQ. I know that DD will like the pool, and we will like the boat to DTD!

I would go with what theming you think you would like best.
On a personal note, we would chose CSR over POR/FQ.

We prefer the POFQ for a lot of reasons but we live in the SW and going to CSR would be just like being at home.

We also like the fact that POFQ is smaller than the other moderates. Doesn't seem quite as busy and crazy.

The food court at the POFQ was just rennovated and is suppose to be similar to that at Riverside - which we really like. I've read very nice comments about it here on the boards. Will experience it in Nov/Dec.

You didn't say whether you have children or not ... but our 4 yr old DS really likes the pool at FQ. The slide is nice..not too crazy...and the alligators all around are a nice touch. The playground, located by the pool, hot tub area is nice, too.

We really love jazz so the having the jazz music piped in is a nice touch along with the cobblestone streets and the "horsey heads" along the paths. Walking the path along the river is also nice. You can see lots of wildlife...ducks, birds, bunnies. And you can rent bikes, boats, etc. at Riverside. You can also use all the facilities at Riverside.

We've never had trouble with the buses. Typically only wait 5 - 10 minutes at the most. Since we are the first stop on and first stop off that is nice, especially in the evenings.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. I would pick the theme that appeals to you and make the ressie. I'm sure youi will have a blast.
