CS line ettiquette ?

I am polite and considerate of others 99% of my life, but when it comes to counter service at WDW, it's very simple for us - one of us stands on line for the food and the other snags a table. Sure, it's tough when you finally get off line and start searching for a table, and I've done it many times. That's why our strategy changed a couple of years ago, and there's no reason to feel bad or guilty about doing it, either. Everyone has the same option.

Couldn't have said it better myself. We're paying just like everyone else is and everyone does have the same option. My older children help me order typically while my wife and younger son score a table.

I thought everyone did it that way...one wait in line and the other take the family to a table. :confused3

When we go in october :beach: , my husband and two youngest will go find a seat. My daughter and I will stand in line for food. :coffee:

One of us gets the food, and the rest of the party finds a table. Once the table is procured, we sent parties out to wash hands, to check with the person on line (if they need help carrying or anything). It works a LOT better than having everyone go through the line, then mill around looking for a place to set down (I believe that's when most of the 'I spilled my drink' mishaps would occur, don't you?). And we always clean up after ourselves - my mama didn't raise no slackers :thumbsup2 !

And if I'm by myself, I either ask to share a table with a likely looking nice person, or I smile around and make it obvious that I'd be happy to share my table with someone else. Karma, ya know.

5. If you've snagged a table that seats 8 and you're 4, you're not bad if you don't but think about letting someone sit with you that is wandering with a tray. It's going to make their day. And what goes around comes around. Maybe Karma is going to reward you.
Oh, boy do I know this one! At the Golden Horseshoe at Disneyland last year, I went straight to the counter to get some food. Everyone else knew what they were doing and grabbed tables while one person from each party got in line - so there was nowhere for me to sit :(
A VERY nice gentleman at a small table offered me a seat - it was just he and his wife (who was in line getting their food) until then. The three of us had a fantastic time, she showed me a Hidden Mickey, we were both celebrating birthdays that trip,,,, I truly hope Karma did something nice for them!
On the other hand, one time in WDW's Main Street Bakery, I could simply NOT get a table. Whenever one became available - and that was rare - someone else always moved faster than I did. I ended up returning my food.

It would be GREATLY appreciated if all you table-snaggers considered Cannot_Wait_4Disney's suggestion and offered a seat or two to us poor souls wandering around with food that's getting so cold it's petrifying, while your food-getters are still five people back in line...

This is one of those things I never thought of as rude or unusual until reading it here. I have never heard of everyone waiting in line, whether it is McDonalds at home, or Pizza Planet in WDW. From what I have expereinced it has always been normal procdeure for 1 member (or a part) of the party to wait in line to order the food and the rest sit down, get the napkins, ketchup, salt, straws, etc...

We do that and I have no problem with anyone else doing it. To me it is not rude at all, but the norm. Maybe Im wrong, but I will continue to do what I have always done and seen done.

In many trips to WDW we have only had 1 tough time finding seats so I don't even think it's an issue.

Ditto. Sometimes I read a thread about how rude and disrespectful other guests are...and it's something I do (and think the majority of others do, too!). :confused3 It's very strange...

And we all know who that person is...the one eating standing up! :teeth:

Usually my husband and DD11 will go find a table while I take DS16 to go order. Well, I order and then he carries it. What good is a teenager if you can't use them as a pack mule, right? :smooth:

If it is just hubby and I, we stick together, find a table after the food is ready.

If we have our adult children, grandchildren with. A couple of us stay to carry trays, the rest go get settled in and get the tables/chairs set up so there is enough for all of us to eat together.

I have seen it done both ways, doesn't really matter to me either way. People don't take very long to eat in CS places and tables are always coming available. Now, the only problem is..can the disney castmember keep up with keeping them cleaned..NOPE...they can't. Doesn't seem they even try!
