Hi, I know this topic comes up a lot, so I just wanted to give our experience last week. We have never had a problem switching a CS meal for 3 snacks at our resort (ASMo, Pop, Contemporary), however have read every year on the dis that Disney no longer allows this etc. This time we were staying at Pop, and we didn't technically try to do the exchange, but I did ask a CM checking us out of the food court one day and she said they can't do it and that they've never done it. I know this is completely wrong, as I've done it at Pop multiple times before. I'm not a huge fan of Pop to begin with, and the last 3 years we've stayed at the Contemporary, where the CM's basically advertise doing this exchange, so we decided to stop at the Contempo. Cafe on the night that we were doing Chef Mickey's to see if it was an option there. The CM's were very polite and acted as if it was policy to accept doing the exchange, in which we proceeded to do a couple exchanges with no problem. We ended up going back to the Contempo Cafe on our last day and do the exchange with our remaining CS credits and again with no problem. If I remember correctly, I believe the resorts are independently managed, so I'm guessing it's up to each individual resort as to what their policies will be etc.

For anyone wanting to make the exchanges, I'd start at your resort, but if they won't help you, don't give up and try some other resorts, as I'm sure you can find a resort that will happily meet your needs.

Good reporting. It seems silly that they won't let people use their credits the best way it fits their family. We aren't big CS eaters. We are staying concierge level breakfast bagels and juice/coffee, and we eat TS for dinner, some lunches. So the few CS for lunch we use, is it. We only have done DDP once, but are doing it this trip. Last time we were able to this at Poly(CS=3snacks), I like to get fruit/snacks for room. Hopefully we can do it again. :)

Thank you so much! This is a great tip. I'll be staying at Pop for 10 nights starting Nov 1st, and last year they wouldn't let us use up our last few CS leftovers for snacks.
I've been collection ideas from my fellow dis'ers since I know I'll have some CS leftover. I'll add this to my list of ideas!

Ugh...I had such an issue with this on our trip last week. On our last morning i had 4 counter services left over. We were at a gift shop in Epcot so I asked if i could exchange them for snacks. We were flying home in a few hours and I was hoping to get some candy to take back home. The supervisor told me I would have to go to guest services first to have them converted. Guest services then told me I had to go to our resort. Resort tells me i had to ask the gift shop if they would allow me to get candy. Gift shop tells me no... I could only covert them at the cafe shop ( we were at CSR). The CM at cafe was great and said yes I could get the 3 snacks per counter but all they had to take on the plane was pastry items & snack size chips. I was not very happy. 12 bags of gummy mickeys was what I was hoping for.

We were able to do this last year in November at CBR. We took home alot of Mickey rice krispies which was awesome!

March 2011 we were able to convert each meal into 3 snacks at AS Movies food court. We got a variety of snacks including the rice krispies treats and goldfish style crackers.
October 2012 we were at POR French Quarter. It was not as easy, but the cashier was super helpful and explained what we could do there and made a few suggestions. We could get 1 drink, 1 fruit, and 1 dessert for each meal.

The All Star food court had a bigger variety of snacks available that made it easier to bring snacks home as souvenirs. Fortunately, we were going to the darkside (3 days at Universal) after our POR trip so we were able to use the items we got on the rest of our vacation.

Going back in 14 days to AS Music. Who knows what will happen? I'll be happy just being on vacation in Disney no matter what!

We were able to convert a bunch of leftover CS into snacks at Caribbean Beach resort last year as we left the resort. The cashier made it super easy for us -- we didn't know at the time how lucky we were to receive such accommodating service!

The CM last year converted the remaining CS into snacks - we were at CSR and they did it at the cafe but had it changed on the card so we could spend them at the shop - I wasnt there but I am pretty sure the CM *may* have offered it (as I dont think DH would have known to ask) and I remember at the time saying to him we were lucky as they dont always do that

So, when you convert it (if they will let you), does it just add it to your account?

Hypothetically, if I had 2 CS credits I *know* I'm not going to use and a park day left at EP, could you stop by that morning and convert them to 6 SC and go to F&W? Or do you have to use them right there where they convert them (at the food court)?

They charge it for things right there. They don't convert it for you to go use somewhere else.

You cannot convert credits in advance. When you get to the Food Court ask the cashier to see if they will allow it and for how many snacks. If it's allowed you choose your snacks and it will be deducted from your CS credits by the cashier.

There is no way you can convert CS credits and use them somewhere else, such as the food booths at F&W.
