I wouldn't recommend CS at Boardwalk. We stayed there 2 years ago and that is the only bad thing about this resort...no decent CS. The stand across from the pizza window is all fried food and it isn't that good.
There is the Beach Club Marketplace at the BC, that is a decent counter service restaurant - they have gelato too.
Beach's n Cream is a sit-down but decent (I think the burgers are better than average, but prefer the ones at DisneyQuest by far). I like the BnC chicken soup. If you are going to do sit-down, there is also the ESPN Club - though I'm not sure of the hours.
Beaches and Cream is table service and gets crowded often. You may have to wait to be seated. They don't serve food as counter service. Just ice cream and drinks. You could pick up something counter service at Hurricane Hannah's at SAB (standard pool side food) or the Marketplace at the BC.
I agree the pizza anywhere is Disney is just awful but it is subjective. this is coming from a nyer who has an amzing pizza joint every block. So if you are not from ny/nj or chicago you may enjoy the pizza Also I belive there is a cs place in the swan or dolphin which is right next to the bw!
One point of interest, the Boardwalk Bakery makes awesome Panini sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch. It can be crowded at times, but they have a nice little thing giong there between hot sandwiches and great pastries. All we need is great coffee at WDW and life will be awesome.
