Crystal Palace Question - Please Help....

We just got back from a fantastic trip in June. We ate at the Crystal Palace for the first time and really enjoyed getting out of the heat and having a nice meal. We paid $35.99 per person - even for my two 10 year olds. I thought it was high, but we ended up really enjoying it, so I was glad to do it.

Fast forward a month. :wizard:

We are surprising the kids with a trip to MNSSHP and a short weekend at the Beach Club in September. It's killing me to keep quiet, but I really want them to be surprised and to have a magical trip. I booked Crystal Palace again on our first night, but when I made the reservation, the price on the Disney website said $59.99 per person! :scared1:

Now, I am a fairly reasonable person, but $300 for my family of 4 (including two kids who eat like kids) is totally out of my budget. What could possibly have happened in a month's time to raise the price by $25 per person?! I checked Cape May (Our other favorite place) and the price didn't go up there.

So my questions (finally!) are: Did the price really go up or is this a misprint on the Disney site? If it went up that much, does anyone know why?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I'm going Jan 2012 - and didnt notice the prices!!

It must have to do with Disney's pricing for Holidays etc - - but really, $60 for a Buffet - I keep thinking of the Buffet's in Vegas! But as long as people pay the price, Disney is going to be making money, not losing it! Wish they would at least do more homemade desserts - like in the "old days" now its just standard stuff... sad that

This is interesting and a great question as the website states

Breakfast $23.00
Lunch $25.00
Dinner $36.00 to $59.99.

I'm wondering if there is a special dining package or presentation for the $59.99 or is the huge difference in price to reflect peak times?

I'll watch this thread with interest.

Not saying you're wrong, but where did you see that it was $59.99? I can only see their standard price range for buffets which is everything from a child's breakfast to a seasonally adjusted dinner show.

Allears.net is still showing as costing around $36 for an adult dinner.

I thought the higher price in the usual price range was limited to the dinner shows like HDDR?

ETA: Never mind. Just saw the price quote you were talking about. But isn't that the 'seasonally ajdusted' price? Seems odd for the time of year you're going. I'd call Disney dining and ask! Much as I really like CP, that's a bit much for a buffet dinner- characters or not!

Wow, yeah, that is a steep price right there. No way I could do it. But Disney will adjust their prices seasonally or for Holidays. Are you going labor day weekend? Otherwise I don't know why it would be that high then.

Is is $59.00 right now per person? We have reservations for lunch there on Aug. 1. I thought I was paying about $35.00 per person. If it's the higher price, I'm going to have to cancel our ressie.

The lunch prices are still around $35 - only dinner is showing as $59.99.

And we're going the weekend of September 15-18 - not even Labor Day.

I have no clue, and the Cast members I spoke to didn't know either. They just kept referring me to the website. :confused3

I think $59.00 is way over-priced. It's not like they are serving gourmet food.

Wow that seems just crazy! No disrespect to Pooh and friends but its not even like they are "speaking characters" to make your dinner more memorable. How much is it at CRT?

Could you get the dining plan for your stay? That way you'd kind of 'beat the price' but using only one dining credit.

Nope - no dining plan. We're not going to go to any parks except for the MNSSHP. We plan to spend our time in Stormalong Bay...and the bar next to it. ;)

Bumping in the hopes that someone has been to Crystal Palace in the last week and can clear up the actual price of dinner. Thanks!

WOW, I eat there a few times a month as im local and while I think the $39 is a lot I never saw it in the $40's let alone $59!

If you are looking at the price ranges on the page for Crystal Palace on disneyworld.com, that is just an estimate per person. If you read the guest policies towards the bottom it states:
"Price range reflects estimated individual check average, except Character Dining and buffet locations where pricing is based on individual adult pricing. Excludes alcohol, tax, and gratuity."

They use the same price ranges for all of the restaurants, ($15-35.99, $36-59.99, $50+). if you look at other restaurants (even those that aren't buffets), some will have the same price range as is listed for dinner at CP ($36-59.99). Those are simply ranges, to give people an idea of what they'll spend, not the actual price of the meal. So, dinner will probably still be around the price you paid last time (maybe add a dollar or two since prices can change). Even with a holiday surcharge, that would probably only bump the price up around $5 (I could be wrong...never went during those times).

I ate there exactly 6 days ago for dinner and the price was right around $36.00 per person

Check on allears.net. The Disney site seems to upcharge their prices. On allears.net, it is showing, as of 1/11, the price for an adult dinner at CP as $36.99.

From my experiences, the actual Disney website just shows a price range that this restaurant falls under. For example, if you go to Frommer's or Fodor's - they might classify restaurants by $, $$, $$$, and $$$$. The $36-59 is the equivalent of saying a restaurant is $$$- i.e. it's not the actual price pp. I agree with the pp who advised to check allears. That's going to be the closest pricing to the current pricing.
