I'm not neccessarily looking for the characters, I am looking for a full service, good food, relaxing place to refuel with 3 cheer moms and 3 cheer teenagers. What would be my best choice? Thanks!:cheer2:

Personally I say do both but that is just me. If you want relaxing I would suggest Liberty Tree at dinnertime. They bring the food to your table family style so you don't have to get up to refill your plate. Plus it is hearty traditional American food like roasted turkey, stuffing, roast pork, mac and cheese. It is just good eats.

Well, do you prefer buffet, or your meal brought right to your table. That might be the deciding factor. Liberty Tree Tavern is fantastic food and brought right to your table. Crystal Palace is fantastic food but you need to go up and get it yourself. I'm a fan of both!!!

i prefet the CP buffet, you can chose what items you want and it was good!

I would suggest LTT if you want relaxing. I don't find buffets relaxing. Does everyone in your group like the menu at LTT? What about taking the monorail to Kona Cafe or GF Cafe?

You might enjoy either. It depends. These are my thoughts (there are zealots on each side of the food quality opinion)
Crystal Palace
service - full service restaurant - buffet style - we've found the service very good
food quality - great variety - I like the quality
relaxing place - we've always had plenty of room and found tables comfortable - we were not rushed. CP is very pretty but because it is so open with very high ceilings it can get pretty noisy, also characters parade around every hour with kids

Liberty Tree Tavern
service - full service restaurant - family style served at your table - we've found the service very good
food quality - set menu - I dislike the food here but others love it - I think part of the problem for us is the amount of starch - you are served a salad and rolls, then the server brings out a plate of turkey, ham and beef (all of which we found dry), gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans - after dinner the server brings a family style plate of warm apple or cherry pie with ice cream (tasted great).
relaxing place - plenty of room at our table - people are seated in rooms with lower ceilings than CP - found it less noisy than CP - there are some tables where air conditioning blows on you - last visit we were in a room with about 10 tables right by a window - it was very nice. We've never felt rushed here either.

I know you are not interested in characters but they were a lot of fun at both places even for older people.

I would chose Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch...never been there for dinner but lunch was de-lish.

Crystal palace is one of my favorites. Lunch is great, the restaurant is so light and airy. It is a must-do every trip for our family.

I like both - but I think LTT is a little more relaxing just because the food is brought to you.

love the LTT dinner, and loved the CP...but for breakfast...am thinking we may give dinner a try this time as well as LTT.

I enjoy both LTT dinner and CP dinner. That being said, if I had to pick one over the other I would go with LTT. I love the food there.

We ate both on our last trip (our first trip ever). The character interaction was better at LTT, not that we had any problems at CP. We got to see all the characters at both and got pictures with all of them. The characters are totally different, so it could depend on who your kids want to see most. We all (me, dh, and three dd's) liked the food at CP. There were a lot of choices, I think we may have had lunch there. We had LTT on our first night and we had eaten at Cosmic Rays earlier and weren't starving, so I don't know if that made a difference. We just didn't care for the food at LTT. The macaroni and green beans tasted like they came from the freezer section. The turkey and mashed potatoes were good. It was just an average meal, but the atmosphere and characters dressed up were nice. princess:

The quality of food at CP has decreased significantly over the past few years. It's gotten to the point that I can't recommend it to anyone.

Another vote for LTT lunch! The best meal I have ever had in all of Walt Disney World. The crab cakes are wonderful and the hamburger was GREAT!!! They also have very good desserts on the lunch menu.
