Crying In Your Car, Anyone Else Do This?

I drove my DS back to college today. Perhaps it was a build-up of emotions as I reflected on my kids and how I want so much for them, or maybe it was the music that I rarely get to listen to except while driving, or maybe it was both, but I found myself crying. Then I realized I often do this while driving. I think I feel free to 'let down' because it is a private space and I get a chance to really think. Am I the only strange one? ;)

i do the same thing..especially if a certain song comes on the radio...or i just start thinking...i probably look like an idiot haha

No you're not. I've cried in my car before because of an argument I got in, or had a rough day at work. It doesn't happen that often, but I've done it.

You aren't the only one. I just weeped today out of nowhere listening to Kenny G's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" thinking about the video with the old man's family surprising him at the movie theater.

I'm such a dork.

nope youre not a dork I do it too.

I agree its a safe place.

The last time I cried in my car was on the way home after picking up a pizza from our favorite pizza place in town. The owner of the restaurant made an insulting comment to me. He thought it was funny, but I sure didn't!! I cried all the way home about it!! The next day I wrote him a note letting him know how hurt I was over his comment. It was never acknowledged at all. I will never set foot in that restaurant again, until he retires.

I've cried other times too, over a super sad song, or if I was going through a difficult time (or a loved one was going through a difficult time), etc. I often wonder what people think when they see tears running down my face.

Yes, but it has been a while. I have one heading to college next year so I will find myself doing it once again.

My car and the shower are the two places that I do almost all of my crying.

Me too, but add outside on the swing.

Yes, something about the privacy of the car makes it a great place to let loose many emotions.

I have also had many intense conversations in the car, and I think it's because we don't have to look right at each other, and that makes it easier to say the emotional things.

Anyway, I cried in the car just this afternoon. My grocery store is in the same shopping center as the veterinary clinic where my dog passed away last month. I try to park on the other side of the lot, but today there were no other spaces, so I had to park near the office and I just burst into tears!

Yep, I've been known to cry all the way home from work. It a stress release thing.

Not strange at all I think. It's our little mobile private space. We have our corners and comfy places to cry at home, but we can't take them with us. :moped: :drive:

Yep, I've done it often. I also agree that it is a safe place where you can release your emotions.

I am very quite sure you are not the only one who cries in the car. There are plenty of folks out there who cries especially when they are grieving when they lost their loved ones or had a really bad day or having a personal issues. I used to cry a lot in my car when my husband passed away. I also cried a lot in church too and other public places.

I no longer feel like a freak.

I like this thread!

I've done it more times than I can count. Pre-DD, I'd go out driving alone just so I COULD cry.
