What is the CRV I am seeing in many threads? A new resort? I've just joined the group and am pondering buying into DVC. Trying do my research before taking the plunge. ANOTHER question... I didn't realize you could purchase points in other resorts so that you have 2 'home' bases. It is vital to have more than one home? AND how does that work exactly?

Thanks so much !!

Presently, CRV is a rumor. There is a lot of discussion/speculation on the DVC Mousecellaneous Board regarding CRV, but no announcement about another new DVC resort has been made - in fact no announcement has been made about the construction now going on at the site of the former North Wing of the CR.

The advantage in owning contracts at multiple DVC resorts is that those points may be used 11 months in advance at that resort to make reservations and can still be combined with points from your other resorts to make reservations at 7 months at any resort.

There are some members who own points at all 8 DVC resorts.

I'm still a bit confused as to how the add-on pints will work. Is there a site or document that may explain how that works? I'm not a DVC owner yet, but may do so soon. If, for instance, I buy 160 points at SSR and then another 50 at AKV, I will have 2 homes, meaning for these 2 resorts I can make reservations at 11 months as opposed to 6 for all other DVC's???? That sounds awsome? But, almost to good to be true ... I think I'm missing something ....

AND off subject a bit, Do all standard 'time share' plans expire at a certain point? I'm not familiar with time sharing of any kind. I understand DVC does expire, but wondered how traditional time sharing worked.

Thanks !

This is directly from the online DVC site, to which you will have access once you join. Hope this helps.

Home Resort Priority
Get the guidelines for booking a stay at your Home Resort up to 11 months before your check-out date.

Your Disney Vacation Club Membership allows you the privilege and flexibility to reserve accommodations at your Home Resort as far as 11 months in advance of your check-out date.

What you need to know about Home Resort Priority:

* All reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
* You have exclusive access to request reservations using your Home Resort Vacation Points at your Home Resort 11 to eight months in advance of the check-out date. If, at a later date, you wish to use Vacation Points from another Disney Vacation Club Resort, you cannot "switch out" the Vacation Points.
* You may request reservations at all other Disney Vacation Club Resorts as far as seven months before your check-out date.
* In order to take advantage of the Home Resort Priority, all Vacation Points being used to make the reservation must be associated with your Home Resort.
* Other booking guidelines apply when making reservations for The Disney Collection, World Passport Collection, Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection.

If you have more than one Home Resort:
In order to take advantage of the Home Resort Priority Period, all Vacation Points used to make that reservation must be associated with your Home Resort.

An example of Home Resort Priority:
If, say, you want to make a reservation at Disney's Vero Beach Resort that requires 100 Vacation Points but you have 200 Vacation Points at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resorts & Spa and 50 Vacation Points at Disney's Vero Beach Resort, you don't have enough "Vero Beach" Vacation Points to qualify for the Home Resort Priority Period. However, as a Disney Vacation Club Member, you do have the options to:

* Use your 200 "Saratoga Springs" Vacation Points to book a vacation during the Home Resort Priority Period at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, or
* Borrow "Vero Beach" Vacation Points to secure your reservation during the Home Resort Priority Period for Disney's Vero Beach Resort.

Add-on points are simply additional points (at any of the resorts) for your contract. They may be used 11 months ahead at their specific resort or 7 months ahead at any other DVC resorts. DVC points may be used 11 months ahead for any of the non-DVC options and up to 2 years ahead for DCL reservations.

Many timeshares have no expiration date. DVC (and a number of others) are classified as a RTU (Right-to-Use) which means there is an expiration date for the ownership. Most "traditional" timeshares also include ownership of a specific week each year. DVC (and a number of others) is based on a flexible system using points which are used to "pay" for reservations based on availability.
