We are planning on cruising with our 1year old in May 2019. This is not our first Disney Cruise, but is our first with a little one! Any tips or advice?

You can request a pack and play or bed rails for the sofa bed. You can also get a diaper genie for your stateroom. You might want to reserve some time in the nursery before you board. Although your little one cannot use the clubs during regular time, they can go in with you during open house. Check the daily navigator for specific toddler activities. Your little one also cannot use the pools, even with a swim diaper, but there is a toddler splash area they can play in.

We sailed on our littles first birthday & again when she was 15 months. It’s definitely a different pace but we had a fantastic time. Her favorite thing? The staircases- she climbed the main ones dozens of times- we used a bed rail on the sofa which worked fantastic (she won’t use a pack n play) we rarely took the stroller around as it was easier to walk everywhere.

Put them in the baby life jacket and get a pic.

Our son’s first cruise was at 1 year and they still made you wear your life vest to the drill. The baby ones are sort of cute with the little hat.

We did our first DCL cruise when our son was about 22 months. His favorite things were:

  • Open house at kids clubs
  • Wake Up with Disney Junior
  • Meeting characters
  • Dancing to the live bands
  • Climbing on the big porthole windows with benches
  • Wandering around the ship
Definitely bring an umbrella stroller for naps on the go. We had adult time in almost every port because our son would pass out from exhaustion and nap for an hour or two. (But we made the mistake of trying to get him to nap by pushing him around the ship in a stroller and that was a disaster. Seeing characters and other kids running around meant that he forced himself to stay awake).

We've sailed with a 9 month old, and twice with a 15 month old. Our 9 month old stayed in the nursery and just hung around with us around the ship. And at 15 months, both kids did the same as the 9 month old hanging out in the nursery. The trips were mostly for the eldest kid(s) and us, the parents. :joker:

We used the nursery in conjunction with nap times and bed times, to allow us to do things around the ship unhampered. The nursery CM's are awesome, they will change and feed your child while there.

Like what other posters have mentioned make sure to book your max allotted nursery times in advance, and to book additional times when you board. You have 24 hours to cancel your appointment with out charge.

Make sure to specify anything your baby might need when you do the preregistration online, such as high chairs, food allergies and if you will need a crib in your room.

Cheers!
