Hi everyone, We are planning our cruise for next year. We know we can bank points and borrow points for the cruise. But can you use points and cash in combination? And is that a good thing to do or do you end up losing value? Was wondering! Thanks!

Yes, you can use points and cash to book a cruise. At least one adult in the cabin must be booked for points. You can choose to pay points or cash for the others in the same cabin. (You can't pay a combo of points and cash for the same person, though).

If you pay cash for a person, it will be the cash price that DVC previously negotiated with DCL. That price may be more or less than the cash price available from a Travel Agent or DCL itself.

There is a fee (either $75 or $95, can't remember) to book through MS regardless of how you pay. You must pay the entire amount up front when you book through MS.

As far as whether or not it is a good value, that just depends. Take a look at this thread for more info:

Best wishes -

The fee is $75. You can do points and cash but as noted, one adult must be covered by points and you must pay for each person entirely in one way (points or cash). In general, neither points nor points plus cash is a good value. You should look at the options including all cash and decide what's best for you. You should know that when you book points and cancel you don't get the points back for full use, they are restricted to non DVC and non II options and are not bankable. If you do points, plus cash, you must pay the full amount at the time of booking. You do not access to any other discounts and if the price for cash goes down, you will not be compensated. If you as much as change cabins, they will charge you another $75 fee. I think almost everyone would be better off using just cash and early booking discounts but you should look for yourself and see. Remember you could always rent your points. to cover all or a portion of your trip.
