Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

I don't know how much it is, but I have put several dates on my calendar when ships will be in San Diego (debarkation, not port stops) so that I can go over there one day and see how things look! I will report back for all of you who are trying to make plans. Of course, no guarantees that it will be the same, but I figure I can at least get an idea.
That's really sweet of you! I sent an email to my friend who is also my TA asking for pricing on the transfer. Usually my family is off the ship as soon as the gangways open but with my inlaws with us I don't want to rush them. If it was just us I'd think taxi no matter what. If there's a chance of debarking later than our norm and/or long waits I'll do all I can to ensure a smooth experience. ;)

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but will there be any Star Wars related fun on our trip?

May the 4th (be with you) is a sea day. :)

Who knows but, and yes I am trying to start a friendly fight, I hope you Live Long and Prosper.

Hello all! We are officially booked. Justin, Cristin and Lauren (4)! Can't wait to join you and return to our home port of San Diego.

While I sit stuck in London Heathrow due to snow and winds back home, I finished reading Flossbolna's trip report for last year's Panama Canal. It was a good read and got me excited again. http://www.disboards.com/threads/if...ma-to-disneyland-final-thoughts-2-14.3288728/

Like her, we've also decided to add a few days at Disneyland and LA. We've decided to do the train to Anaheim. I can't believe how close the station is. 7 minute walk according to Google maps. Can anyone verify that it's as simple as it looked? I walked it virtually using Google street view but I tried that with Universal studios in Orlando too but was deceived.

With the travel issues I'm experiencing now, I wish I was leaving for Miami an additional day earlier. We start our travels 36 hours before embarkation. We should get there about 2pm the previous day, leaving us 24 hours for travel issues. I'm sure we'll be fine, but I expect we'll be biting our nails watching weather forecasts as we get up to the last few days.

In one of the recent trip reports I read, there was a comment about Studio Sea being set up during embarkation for last minute changes/additions. Is that where we can go to check out additional onboard events (tastings, tours) as well as Palo bookings? I think I'd like to make another Palo booking. We found on the 2013 EBTA that it's nice to break things up.

One thing I'm very looking forward to on this trip versus the EBTA is the time shifting. Rather than losing an hour's night sleep 6 days in a row (I think it was 6), we'll gain a few. On the EBTA we missed our character breakfast because we overslept (and forgot it was that day). Those hours really add up. A piece of advice for others that haven't done a long cruise before. It can be hard to know what day it is and when things are happening. And for things like character breakfasts that you get a ticket for at the start of the trip, you assume you'll remember it's such and such a date, but we certainly lost track. So besides sleeping in, we completely forgot. I plan on doing a better itinerary for us.

I live in San Diego and work down town and YES, it really is THAT easy. In fact, I have told a few people on the San Diego cruise to nowhere that it will be faster to walk to Santa Fe Station and get a cab to the airport than it will be to try and wait it out in the que at the port. It is a safe and flat walk. (Watch out for pedi cabs/bicycle cabs, they will run you over). We are parking near Santa Fe Depot at my husband's office and taking a cab to the airport and then walking back to the car once we get back to San Diego.

First time here in a long time, and what a change! I was like 6 pages behind but got that all figured out.

Someone asked me about SAS - we have never used them before but our traveling buddies (JanDave) have and said it was good so we just went with it. Sorry to be so late with that.

:welcome: to all our new cruise buddies that I missed. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Don't know if I'm posting this in the right place but I really fancy going to Nachi Cocom when in Cozumel. Is anyone else doing this? I'll be a senior solo female and I'm just a bit worried about taking a cab on my own for safety. Would anyone be willing to share and I'll pay half the cab fare ? I'm in stateroom 1078.

I might be mistaken but I thought someone said they are closed when we will be there due to it being a Sunday.

Oh really? That's a shame. There goes my plan then! Umm not sure what to do now as I don't fancy the DCL beach excursion.

Ahh just checked and got the message sorry we are fully booked for that day. Guess I wasn't quick enough! Oh well back to researching alternatives.

CarolynU
you are staying in the room we had last time :) (Sept 2012 :) love deck one. We are just down the hallway in 1046

I am up right now trying to figure out excursions as well. We just bit the bullet this week, so I am in major catch up mode! Haha.

We were hoping for a deck one room but ended up in a 9B on deck 2 instead, room 2070 to be exact. :)
