Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

Real ski slopes? I would love to go to Vienna one day. Trouble is, I don't often vacation in Europe (despite being European) as I don't seem to be able to drag myself away from Disney

On behalf of my parents, apologies for your road taxes :rotfl2:

So, are you travelling as a family or a group of friends?

Yes, they are quite short buth with a lift and everything, it's also the world's only capital with a significant amount of vineyards- gotta have your priorities straight as a city ;).
We also don't travel much in Europe, except for short weekend trips, I'm saving the nearby destinations for my old age, when I don't want to handle longhaul flights any longer.

We are traveling as a family, my huband, daughter (11), parents and I.
I'm dreading the day when I have to notify the teachers.

BTW, there's a great PC trip report with tons of pictures on this board, I began reading it yesterday and it made me even more excited.

Are they pretty strict about taking kids out of school in Austria then? They are here in the UK too. My son starts secondary (high) school in September so that is why he won't be coming with us, it is too much work for him to try and catch up on. His Grandparents will come and stay with him while we are away, which he is pretty excited about. He is upset to miss out on the cruise but only because he wanted to try the new slide on the wonder

I read that trip report last night too. It looks awesome, althoguh I have to admit ot being a tiny bit disappointed that our cruise won't have that stop at castaway Cay.

Yes, I would love a CC stop, too, but we will just come a day earlier and make the best of Miami.

How missing school is handled totally depends on teachers and headmasters, my daughter is in a private Montessori school and they aren't very strict, I'm just afraid that two weeks will stretch their patience a bit, I'm glad that 05/01 is a holiday, so that's one day less.
I just hope that there will be enough children for some kids club fun, otherwise her entire focus will be on the poor grandparents :lmao:

We will be flying in a day early too - and hopefully spending a couple of days at Disneyland the other end :thumbsup2 Is it a direct flight for you from Vienna?

May 4th is a public holiday here in the UK so that is one less vacation day we will have to take ;)

Love how your grandparents will be stuck with your DD if there aren't enough kids to keep her occupied ;) From what I've read, she should pretty much have the run of the Mickey pool if nothing else.

We're also booked on this cruise - just my husband and I - and can't wait!

Also, since there's two threads for this same itinerary, I posted a note in the forum to see if they can merge them.

I am really glad this thread was started. I thought I did one last night but I have no idea what I am doing obviously! So it is myself Kathleen and my DH Ron. We are very excited to be doing our first "gold" cruise and first 14 night one. I hope for two things that we can relax on a few of the sea days and I hope I can keep the eating down! I just got off the Fantasy a few weeks ago and have to work off the weight I gained!
I am looking forward to hearing about the plans people are making and seeing the canal!

Hi. It is just my husband and I on this cruise too. I get the impression there will be a lot of adults.

I already sent a PM to one of my fellow moderators, asking for the threads to be merged. Unfortunately I can't do it myself as I only have 'moderator powers' on the UK boards ;)

Hi Kathleen, I am so excited for this itinerary. Our first 14-night too. My main concern at the moment is how I'm going to bring enough clothes with me

We booked yesterday also. It will be my husband and I, and our kids, DD will be almost 13 and DS will be 9. They can't wait, our last trip on the Magic was only a five night and it just wasn't long enough for any of us!!

 Our first two cruises were 3-nights and they just flew by. Even the 7-night cruises don't seem long enough. I am looking forward to lots of relaxing sea days, plus some interesting ports of call.

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :beach:
Have a great cruise!

OK, Irish Cowboy posted the second thread already, so I don't know why he missed this one. Hopefully, they will get merged.

Joh, IF they merge, I had saved post 2 for Roll Call, would you like to maintain it, or if we lose that, will you maintain one on your first page? Thanks!

However it works out, we will sort something out. I can't recall what it defaults to when two threads are merged - think it might be the longest running of the two threads, in which case your roll call post will be just fine :)

I believe Irish Cowboy has now added both threads to the master list so, when they're merged, we can get him to update it :thumbsup2

Thanks again!
Have just been on phone with DCL, they fouled up moving my OBB to this cruise, took a frustratingly long time to get them straight.
THINK it is fixed now:upsidedow

Looking forward to the locks!

Yes, I am looking forward to the locks, although not quite as much as my husband. I read a trip report yesterday that said people start staking out a place on deck as early as 4am :scared1:

When checked, the second link he added there was for a different sail date to Alaska, there's still no link to this thread. I sent him a PM, hopefully they get listed/merged.

There should be plenty of rail space:thumbsup2 - and we did book a verandah, portside. So did two other couples we're sailing with. You can always come a-knockin' :thumbsup2

Oh right, I didn't realise there was one already. I did a search and there wasn't a link on the Wonder 2015 Cruise Meets thread either. Never mind, no harm done :)

Like the TR title though :thumbsup2

Hi, Joh, here's the link to the earlier thread, you're right, no harm, but shows we have an enthusiastic group!

DH and I booked this yesterday! This will be our 10th Disney cruise, first Panama Canal. We are very excited. We have wanted to do this one for a few years now.
We are from New Hampshire. No Kids, just the two of us.:beach:

Howdy!!!

Just booked for mom and I. This will be number 10 for us on DCL, platinum here we come! Mom's in Chicago, and I live in Connecticut.

This was the very first DCL cruise mom was ever interested in, and we're finally doing it!

Welcome, feenie and shellbell! Congrats on Platinum, this cruise will be our first AS Platinum! And DW is from NH ( I'm from NYC, we live just outside Manhattan now)

I'm from NYC, we live just outside Manhattan now

We are currently in the process of planning our first ever trip to NYC. Any suggestions you have as to what are 'must sees' on what will be a very short (just 4 days) whistle-stop trip. DH, myself and our 11-year old DS plus my in-laws and my DH's sis and her hubby.

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list pixiedust:
Have a great cruise!

Hello everyone! Me, DH, DS3 and my little peanut still inside me are going on this cruise. I found out I was pregnant the day before it was booking day. I was like yes he/she will be around 6 months that time and it's Disney they cater to all ages. We are excited to finally found a group this early! This will be our first disney cruise ever!
