Can anyone share single parent experiences? Any single says sailing fantasy 9/3/16, Fantasy? Single parents, we're you able to relax and hang out with other adults?

My daughter and I just completed our 5th DCL cruise in February. Our first was when she was 5. We love it. She enjoyed the kids clubs for short periods of time at younger ages. Now she is able to stay in the room if she wants to or go to a movie, arcade or pool with friends.

I would suggest joining your cruise meets thread. There might be other single parents you can get to know before the trip. Or, kids close to your kids ages that they may feel comfortable with.

Don't miss the Palo brunch and mixology is super fun too! Have a great time.

I tried registering for the palo brunch, had the 12:00 time slot on my activities, confirmed it, and then, poof it was gone. I have tried checking since yesterday, and every time it tells me all the brunch spots are gone.

Yes! It was magnificent. I have a 15 (D) and 10 (Izzy) year old and laid down rules before we left. D is generally a huge help to me but I wanted her to have a real vacation too.

1) Breakfast as a family most mornings.
2) After breakfast Izzy had to go to Kid's club until lunch. Only exceptions were days we were leaving the ship.
3) D had to be in the room to dress for dinner at 5.
4) Dinner as a family every evening no exceptions.

It worked really well for us. I spent my mornings in the gym, the adult pool, or just relaxing with a second cup of coffee and the ocean. I am early to bed otherwise I would have spent a few evenings in the adult clubs while the 10 year old slept or went to her club.

Keep checking but they do hold several spots back that you can book once you are on the ship.

Check for brunch constantly, if one doesn't open up go to whereever they are taking reservations (it will be in the Navigator) straightaway.

DD and I did a Spring Break together and I had only a few rules -
(1) don't be stupid (yes this is vague but she knew it encompassed going into other staterooms, smoking, drinking, etc)
(2) let me know where you're headed when you leave the stateroom (things could change but I had an idea at least)
(3) get up before 11 so the stateroom host could do his job (somedays this didn't happen, but close..)
(4) check in with me at dinner so I know what your plans are (to her credit, due to our odd tablemates, she ate dinner with me every night)

Rules in place, she and I had a great cruise. I went to the gym, ran on deck 4, had a healthy breakfast and lunch (usually alone), read on the verandah or spent time at the adult pool. We did a couple of excursions together and "crafts" and a couple of game shows. I believe there are sometimes activities for singles sailing but I was too happy doing a lot of nothing to parktake.

I agree with looking at the cruise meets thread.

Have a great trip!
