Cruising over Christmas

First off, this trip will be our first Disney cruise. I am looking at doing a Christmas cruise in 2018. I know it is early but the staterooms seem to book up so quickly. To get the best rate should I be booking the first day it opens up? Also we have a large family (4 kids ages 8,6,4,1), and I have found that two attaching staterooms are usually cheaper then one really large room. If you have found an alternative way then please let me know. Also when do they usually open up booking for Christmas time? Also do you all recommend a travel agent for connecting room booking? Yes, the lowest prices typically are on opening day.

Not all ships can accommodate 6 people in a room. But, if your cruising on one that does, you need to price out booking the one room, or two connecting (not adjoining) rooms to find out which way is more cost effective.

While only DCL know when they will release any given set of itineraries, historically, winter itineraries have been released around May-July window.

If you don't know, the price of cruises go up as the ship fills. So, the earlier the better, especially with holiday sailings.

If you're looking to sail on the Dream or Fantasy, you're going to have to get 2 rooms. The max capacity for the largest rooms on these ships is 5. If you have the money and are sailing on the Magic/Wonder, their Royal and 2 Bedroom suites sleep up to 7.

DCL usually releases Winter cruises the summer a year prior. So most likely this May/June
