Cruising on the Wonder Jan.29, 09

Nat, Have you gotten your stateroom yet? It looks like they are starting to assign cabin #'s on our 1/25 cruise, so you should be soon!

I know that the same package that we originaly booked is over $1000 more now, then what we paid. So I should'nt complain too much. lol.

Ok, so my boys woke me up early this morning to look out the window, Mom, IT"S SNOWING!! They were very excited and got bundled right up to go and help Dad with the shoveling. Me and my DD stayed in bed - lol. We're really ready for the cruise now!!!

It snowed the first time this year on 12-1-08. We have a bunch of snow!!!
I'm ready to be on the ocean!

I'm ashamed to say this but it got down to 50 degrees here and we are freezing. I can hardly remember what it was like living in snow country but I did for years and actually enjoyed it (well, except for the year in Minneapolis, I didn't enjoy being THAT cold). Still, I'm looking forward to the vacation and spending time with my family all together at one time, something we can only do on vacation.

It has been brrrr here . It was in the teens this morning. I have a feeling we are in for a long winter. lol
Luckily for a bit we will be in relative warmth. :)

Just an FYI regarding fuel surcharges

Fuel Surcharge Eliminated on New Bookings

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disney Cruise Line® is eliminating fuel surcharges for all new bookings, effective Dec. 1, 2008. The decision comes as a result of decreasing fuel price trends within the marketplace.

If your Client has already booked a cruise, the following guidelines have been established for the refund of fuel supplements paid:

If the closing price on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) of West Texas Intermediate fuel is below $70 a barrel two weeks prior to the beginning of the calendar quarter (dates specified below), the company will refund fuel surcharges paid in the form of an onboard credit.
The quarter that the cruise falls in will be based solely on the sailing date. The entire cruise will be considered to be part of the quarter that the sailing date originates in.

Fuel Price
Determination Date Quarter of Possible
Fuel Surcharge Refund
December 18, 2008 First Quarter 2009
March 18, 2009 Second Quarter 2009
June 17, 2009 Third Quarter 2009
September 17, 2009 Fourth Quarter 2009
December 18, 2009 First Quarter 2010
March 18, 2010 Second Quarter 2010
June 17, 2010 Third Quarter 2010
September 17, 2010 Fourth Quarter 2010

The elimination of the fuel surcharge for new bookings applies to sail dates through the end of 2010.

The company will continue to closely monitor fuel prices. Reinstatement of a fuel surcharge may be necessary in the future.

Yes too cold here too, it is 16 this morning, high is supposed to be 26... brrrr..... on the bright side it supposed to be 58 on Wednesday...crazy weather...

About a month and a half left....

I'm not sure if you guys are as OCD as I am. But I keep on checking on the price of our cruise to see if it has gone up or down.
Well -I'm not sure what it means but sometimes every type of cat is there and some times there are only a few.
I wonder if people are cancelling.:confused3

But to me - if they are still selling rooms then that means we have a good chance of an upgrade!!! Plus we are the last boat before the bouce back promo. So who knows!

5 degrees here in upstate NY - and I work outside for part of my job -
so if you see a 6ft redhead clinging to the Ariel statue on Feb 1st refusing to leave - that would be me - now where are my wool socks........ :rolleyes1

On the 10th there is suppose to be a "big" announcement regarding Cruise deals.
Any guesses?

I think this is the latest FE list - let me know if I have missed anyone:

natale1980 - 4 people (2 kids - DS3.5, DD1)
guitardiva - 5 people (3 kids - DD17, DS14, DD7) (stateroom 8538)
samily - 5 people (3 kids - DD 10.5, DS7, DS4)
hm21999 - 4 people (1 kiddo - DD9) (stateroom 8026)
pakey - 2 people (stateroom 6028)
pakey's family - 3 people (1 kiddo - DGS3)
4ollies - 4 people (2 kids - DS7, DS7) (stateroom 2610)

I finally broke down and booked our flights home today. Not as cheap as I was hoping for but still decent. Now watch, they'll probably come out tomorrow with the big announcement being free airfare! :headache: I'm just hoping whatever the big news is that we will be able to benefit from it - it still kills me we miss the bounce back promo by one cruise! :headache: :headache: :headache:

I've got my wool socks on today too - it's a balmy 25 degrees...lol

Morning to all. It's 51 degrees this morning. The downside is that I seriously doubt that any in my group will be able to stand to swim at Castaway Cay in January since we are used to swimming after it hits 100 outside. I guess we can watch the rest of you while we sit on the beach in our sweats!!!!

Nat, I don't think our boat is very full yet. I went online this weekend to book Palo for my "kids" and there was so much availability on all 3 nights. I had heard that Palo was difficult to get this close to sailing. :confused3

I'm staying busy making fish extender gifts. I'm not sure they are going to fit in everyone's fish extenders; it does fit in mine. So if you guys see a gift bag hanging off of your fish, that would be me!!!!

Cool. Thanks. :)

I'm keeping an eye on airfare.
It would have to go down a bit more for me to be ready to book. After all paying for luggage takes an extra bite.
With gas prices low it makes the plan of driving even more attractive. We'll see though.
Free airfare would be awesome! Not likely but awesome. ;) I only hope that they have some kind of discount/incentive thingy that effects us. Seems like our sailing date has missed out on a lot.

It is rainy and slushy and fairly warm-ish (40 ) today. Miserable though. Too wet. I would rather have snow....WOW! I can't believe that I said that!!lol:rotfl2:

So where is everyone traveling from? We are from RI so we usually fly from PVD which is nice because Southwest is there with their usually low prices and no baggage fees for the most part. This trip we are flying out of Boston - we got good pricing on Jet Blue a few months ago during the whole fuel scare so we grabbed them. Now I'm kicking myself because instead of having a 10 minute drive to the airport now we have an hour...and the flights from PVD are just as low now. Well, at least eveyone gets their own tv on Jet Blue - that should keep the kids occupied :)

We're flying back into PVD.

Pakey, I have funny pictures from our last cruise on embarkation day - it was rather cool in Florida - and all the kids were having a ball in the Mickey pool & ALL the parents were sitting around in their long sleeves & pants! Nothing keeps the kids out of the water! Thankfully the next day when we awoke in Nassau it was sunny & warm again!

Kinda ticked at DCL.
This new offer they have is children under 12 are free. That would save us around $200 - But it's only for new bookings! So not only do new bookings not have to pay the fuel charges - but they also don't have to pay for their kids! :headache:

They better at least give all of us who don't get to use the discounts REALLY big upgrades!!! ;)

Hi Nat!

I'm with you :thumbsup2 We wouldn't qualify for the new discount anyway - 2 17yos, but it would be nice to have something thrown our way since we purchased our cruises long before any incentives were available!
