Cruising In May??

We did a Western cruise in May 2004. The weather was warm but not overly hot. Great beach weather. However, on our last sea day heading to Castaway Cay it was VERY windy. So, windy you couldn't even stand on deck nine. I'm not sure if that is normal for the time of year or not.

As for crowds they can only let so many people on the ship. It didn't feel crowded but no cruise has ever felt crowded for me. The pools on the cruise are always crowded except the adult pool. The only time we could find the pool less empty was when the early seating people were getting ready for dinner so around 5 pm. The pool was very empty on the windy days so, we swam in it. But other than that the crowds were fine.

We cruised the Eastern in May '04. It was windy on Sun/Mon, actually gale force winds over the deck. Ship was rocking pretty good, our servers even asked us on Monday night how everyone was doing, they said it was pretty rough. We didnt have any problems & no meds were taken. The pools were pretty cold to me on Sun/Monday, but it didn't slow our kids down any

Rest of the week the weather was great & the pools warmed up once the wind died down.

CC water was chilly, but not bad. After you were in, it was fine, but you did notice it wasn't exactly bath water ;-)

The ship was pretty much full, but did not seem to be crowded at any time. I thought with having that many kids it would be like chuck-e-cheese, but it was pleasantly surprising.

The one thing we did notice is when we ate dinner at Palo, it was so quite!! After eating in the dinning rooms for a few days, it was very noticible how quite it was eating in Palo.

DW an I did the 2nd week May 2005 and it was great.. Weather is warm to hot and we didn't have but one showere and that lasted 30 minutes in GC.. If you go before the schools let out there is not that big of a crowd--at least not noticed.. We were on Deck 5 aft-same as the kids area and you couldn't even tellt hey were there.. If it is you first time on the cruise of course you would want to do the excursions but, if a seasoned cruiser and decide to stay on the ship in some of the ports-- then the Magic is almost deserted...

I've cruised 3 times in May and it was always awesome...water at CC was warm, weather was great...rough seas one or 2 days out of the whole 3 times on the cruise.

thanks, sounds like it will be a good time to cruise! We are from Canada so I'm sure the water will feel warm!! :rotfl:

May sounds great, we cruise 3 days after my birthday. Just before school is out. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We cruised the Wonder 4-night in May 2003 and it was hot. No rough seas or rain or anything, but it was very warm. If memory serves me, the cruise was ok to deal with, but WDW afterward was nuts. Not only were the days over 90 everyday, but it was also quite humid on top of that. We actually had to make the days at WDW short because it was just too much heat/humidity for the kids. (And we live in Sunny CA.)

I have a friend who lives in Orlando that we visited with at the time. I'm pretty sure she said it was abnormal for it to be that hot/humid that soon in the season however. Just wanted to pass along the experience. :)

I don't think I can convince DH to do WDW again so may try to see other parts of Florida like the everglades and the space center. Echo queen, when is your cruise - we are on the May 20th Western!

We (Dh and ds 7 and10) are on the May 20th too :earseek: . :cool1: :cool1:
We must chat :chat:

We are on the May 20 also. DH, me, DD8, and DS5. Hope we have calm seas. We were in WDW last year at the same time and it was sweltering. High 90's. Hope we have hot weather on this cruise. Our family loves the heat. Echo Queen, did you post on the Meets board? Come on over.

We've cruised in May a couple of times and the weather has been great. We have the May double dip cruise booked for next year! Looking forward to it!

My DH and I only do our cruises in May. The weather has been great the last 2 yrs. we've cruised.

We are all set for our 2006 May Cruise - May 20 - The Western...again!

We have cruised May the last couple of years and LOVED it!!
I think compared with other months of the year with temp. etc. It is one of the best -if not the best month to go.
Not to to hot like summer and not to cold like late fall and winter can be. If it wasn't for the fact of most kids still being in school during May -I bet it would be the number one month to go besides the holiday cruises.

It's good to hear May sounds like a good month. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

there is a thread started in cruise meets for the May 20th western - come join in and we can "chat". :goodvibes I would love to know what everyone is planning for there excursions.
