I'm looking at coming back to the USA next year (2025) Late April / Early May for a few weeks combining San Diego and Anaheim.
I'm a single Mother with two kids, who will be 9 and 6 when we return next year.

I have a placeholder from my Alaskan Cruise last year and am thinking of using it for a cruise out of San Diego. The 4 night isn't very long and doesn't really tie in with my dates, but the 7 night is a little expensive but doable as it's quite a way off and I can save.

What is the weather like this time of year for cruising to Mexico? Would I want to even get off the ship at these destinations? I am happy staying on board, my kids didn't enjoy any of our excursions much in Alaska and would have preferred being in the kids club the whole time.
Just after some feedback please.
The ports are:
  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
  • Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
  • Ensenada, Mexico

Hi! That time of year the weather is good, usually not much rain if any at all. Temps will likely be in the high 70s to low 80s in Mexico, though cooler in Anaheim and San Diego.

As for getting off the ship - there are lots of fun options in Cabo. Puerto Vallarta has some good options as well. Not many folks get off in Ensenada, the port adventure options are a bit underwhelming and there are not many to choose from, so I’d recommend staying on the ship for that one. However, if your kids are fans of the movie Coco, there is a Day of the Dead excursion they might enjoy.

Also, remember with your placeholder, I believe you will get 10% off your sailing, which is very nice on those 7-night cruises!

Happy sailing!

I agree that Ensenada is underwhelming.

We swam with the dolphins in Puerto Vallarta, and really enjoyed it. Our teens parasailed in Cabo.

thankyou. Actually I am now thinking of NOT using the placeholder and letting it expire for the refund. I noticed they have IGT room for $1600 less than the regular price, so even with my 10% off that's still $1000 difference.
I'm happy with an inside room for this trip - I usually get Oceanview but the prices with the Australian dollar are too high.

IGT is even better! I did not see they already had that available for those sailings.

We did a pirate ship thing in Puerto Vallerta. I booked it because I thought my son would get a kick out of it (he was probably 10 at the time) and it actually ended up being one of the best excursions we've ever done. We got on the pirate ship, we all had our own personal pirate that would serve us food and drinks (they kept the drinks coming). It included breakfast and lunch and we sailed to a little cove where we could play in the water (and have more drinks) and then the pirates put on a show and then on the way back there was a dance party for the kids with the pirates. I was shocked by how much I enjoyed it!

Cabo was NOT my favorite place. We chose to just walk around and it was fine once you got away from the port area, but there were tons of people yelling and trying to sell you things and it made my son uncomfortable.
