I know the new about the European cruises has only just gone out, but does anyone know if you'll be able to use DVC points for these new cruises. Since I'm in London, I have my eye on the Dover/European cities one - would love to do, so would love to know if it will be on DVC, so I can start planning next year's holiday with the year after's holiday and cruise in mind! :rotfl:

talked to DVC MS today. they don't have the new 2010 cruise points charts yet, but said they should have them before the 14th. if not, I'll be booking in cash and then flipping the res to points later.

Well that is brilliant news. At least now I know it is possible, and that I will just have to fiddle with our points and plan carefully so we still get everything we want lol. Thanks for the info though.

here are the points from the 2007 Med cruises. it may give you a general idea. although, i expect they'll increase a bit

DVC stated today that point charts will be out prior to the October 14 booking date for the 2010 European cruises. So no need for anyone to worry about booking with cash and changing, which is a relief since I saw deposits for cash ranging $600 to $800 per person were posted eek!

I am planning on booking with points myself. Now the prices have gone up quite a bit (DCL cash) from the 2007 Med cruises, so I am expecting points to have gone up too. We spent approx 1780 points for our family of 4 on the 10 day Med cruise. We are planning on the Baltic, so I know the 12 nights will of course be even pricier. Can't wait to see the point charts so we can decide on which itinerary!

We are hoping to do this (mostly) on points. Please post if you hear from MS that the points charts are available!!

Will definitely be posting as more DVC booking info becomes available for the 2010 European Cruises. I know there are many of us waiting to see the charts here...

I know it's more sensible to rent/trade points than to use them to cruise. We've just never done it before, so I'm nervous about the potential problems. We want to take the 12 day baltic and it would be nice not to have to shell out cash, especially these days. We have the points, so I think we'll use them this way. Just wish I could see those charts!

I'm totally with you on this -- for the Med cruise our point value was at about $7.50 p/p by our calculations! It sounds like it saves 25% right away by renting/trading points, but we haven't done it before either.

It just seems like there are so many variables to deal with when you do -- what if they change their mind? What if they need all kinds of changes, requests, etc.? Am I paranoid? Okay don't answer that, lol, but I am thinking it's better to just go ahead & use points....

But that 12 night baltic is very pricey and I would really love to see those charts too!!

We're planning on one on points and one of us as cash. I'm sure it will be pricey.

No- you're not paranoid, at least not by my standards! :thumbsup2 . I haven't gone so far as to figure out the dollar per point thing- good for you! I just know it's how I want to use the points. We had planned on taking next year off from travelling anyway. We went to Disney 3 times this year and we're due for a break. So- I still get to plan and get my Disney "fix" . I don't have to spend much cash at this point in time- which I love, considering the markets.

That was definitely rambling...sorry! I do have a question, tho. If we deposit with cash now- (online, at the lower 50% price), and then later switch to points, is that ok? My reasons would be- they could lower the price if these things don't sell well and I could potentially get brave enough at some point to transfer points and keep it a cash ressie.

What do you think?

There has been no announcement that folks booking on DCL with cash will be able to switch it to MS on points. Please check my post Here. Not to mention that the cash deposits on these cruises run from $600 to $800 per person....
