Cruises - When can you book?

How far out do you have to be to be able to book a cruise? I've read alot about the 11 or 7 months for resorts but does the 7 month rule apply to cruises too?

You can book cruises up to 24 months prior to the sail date.

I am glad you asked because I was wondering the same thing.The other question I had is do you have to have all the points needed in your account at the time of reservation or just by the time of your trip.

They take all the points when you make the reservation and will borrow from the following year if needed.

Can they take points beyond the next year allotment? i.e., I have banked points, points from this year and points from next year, but say needed 50 more.

What I've learned so far is three years (last year's banked, this year, and borrowed from next year). If you are still 50 points short you could try to find someone to tranferr the points to you or you can pay cash for one of the folks going on the cruise and points for the others.
