We are getting ready to leave for our 7 night Magic Cruise, just a little concerned about the paper tag on luggage to identify us as being on the Magic, ours are yellow. They just don't seem that strong. Since we won't see our luggage until we get on the ship, I'm just a little concerned that if the tag tears off somewhere in transit the luggage won't get put on the ship. Has anyone ever had a problem w/ this or could offer suggestions to keep this from happening? Is this a silly thing to worry about?

I've never had a problem with the tags tearing. IN fact, I normally find myself removing the old "disembarkation" tags as I'm packing for the next cruise.

I am always sure that there is another tag with my name and address on the luggage, and if we are flying, the airline adds its ID tag as well....but I've never had a problem with the DCL tags. I think you're worrying for nothing.

Those tags are not just paper, they are reinforced with plastics as well. In 5 cruises we've never had a problem and have done most on the direct airline to ship transfers.

Thank you I feel a lot better, I have never had a problem w/ luggage being lost on a trip and I don't want to start.

Those tags hold on fine - but if you use any of the Disney luggage tags (identifiers) - be cautioned - they get stolen EASILY or should I say "misappropriated" by others.....

We've lost our DVC luggage tags, Mickey tags, but put those generic ones on and no one "takes them". Same thing with the luggage straps - amazing how they get "lost".

We actually did have one of the yellow tags come off of one of our bags on our Dec 13 cruise. We mentioned to our stateroom host (Brian, from India... GREAT guy!) that we had one bag missing and he told us to give it a little time. After a few hours when he saw that we didn't yet have it, he suggested we check with Guest Services. I stopped in there, gave a description of the bag (one of the kids' rolling backpacks) and the CM behind the desk brought it out in less than 2 minutes. All unlabeled bags go there to Guest Services, so if you have the same "luck" we did, it shouldn't be a problem finding it. (We weren't doing Disney transfers, so our tags didn't go on till we left the Radisson the morning of the cruise. Not sure what would happen if they came off on a plane or something like that.)

I'm always a bit nervous about luggage tags too, so here's what I did:

I put TWO luggage tags on different spots on our suitcase (we only had one suitcase, so we had plenty of tags), and I taped them securely. Then I put another luggage tag INSIDE the suitcase, which was only closed with a cable tie. I felt very sure that the bag would find us.

On the way home, I placed our home address/phone right on top INSIDE the suitcase. That way, if it'd been lost, someone would have been able to contact us.
