I want to book the European cruise using my points. If I use points, do I go through Member Services or can I go through a travel agent? Will the cost be cheaper through MS than with the TA? I have always found that my TA quoted me a cheaper rate than DCL. I am only using points for 2 adults and will use cash for the kids.

Also, does anyone know what the point allotment is yet for the European cruises? I remember when we bought DVC that we were told that you could only book a cruise in the 7 month window. That's pretty late in the game if you ask me and would affect cabin availability. I think that cruises should be available to DVC first, then open to the public after a certain window of time. Is that being selfish? Not meaning for it to be.

We're considering doing the same thing for the med cruise. If you are booking with points you must go through Member Services. If you're paying cash in a room where you also used points the cash portion will be done through MS.

The point charts are out. They're on the member website or you can call MS.You'll be able to book using points on April 4.

As noted, you can only use MS. And for any portion you might do with cash, it's usually considerably higher through MS as well as due up front WHEN you make the reservation. Plus there are MANY other negatives to using points for DCL including that you don't get the points back if you cancel as DVC points but reservation points. Why don't you look at the points charts and get a quote on cash from you TA for the same specifics and compare. With a starting price in the range of 350 points per person for a cat 11, I suspect it wouldn't be hard to come out FAR ahead renting out points.
