Cruise ship day visit

My TA took us for a tour of a RCL ship in Cape Liberty. We boarded before the passengers and spent the day getting a tour of a bunch of staterooms from each category offered including all the suites, all the main areas and we got to have a nice lunch. We got off around 3pm. I bet DCL is real selective in doing this, since they don't NEED to "advertise". It's worth a shot checking with some local TAs but I'd think you'd have to have some sort of a relationship with them prior.

Yeah most tours do take place on embarkation/debarkation day and so tend to be at home (or temporary home) ports rather than stops along the way. Again this isn't always the case but usually.

Yep

Yeah, big time. Like selling 100 sailings a month minimum.

We did what was called a "Travel Agent Familiarity 'FAM' Tour" on the Carnival Liberty in Baltimore, probably 10 years ago, back in my TA days. We boarded before the guests, got a tour of all the different types of staterooms and most of the other public spaces, then got to have lunch at the buffet restaurant. I don't know if Disney does this, but I would imagine they likely would, for large Travel Agencies, that could potentially send a lot of business their way.

The DCL TA tours are for accredited TA's only who are registered on the DTA site. They are held occasionally throughout the year and registration is on first come first served basis. TA's cannot bring clients on these tours. I know they occasionally offer more extensive tours for agency owners and other travel professionals. Not sure about the other ships, but they also had a TA preview cruise before the Fantasy was launched for the general public. I was lucky enough to be on that sailing!

Hello, (I hope this is posted in the correct place)
A Disney cruise ship is docking locally in my area, Newcastle UK. I am trying to find out if I would be able able to visit on board just for the day? Is it possible to buy a day ticket/pass just to look around. I've researched but had no luck.
Thanks in advance

On the two times I have boarded the Magic at Dover, they 'Have' let people on from about 10am to 3pm, not a day trip but a limited view and day pass, I have seen it and its often made up of Travel Agents and their friends, and local children, often a special type of needs programme and carers. They had special badges on, and had tours. Some had a meet up in the WD Theater.
For security it would be limited.

Now as said I live I the UK, cruised twice, seen it twice, in fact my trip report at the start has a photo in the terminal of them going through security on the next land next to us. Those who are quick to reply here and say 'nope,' best ask them when they cruised from Dover or UK. How do they actually know what they posted?

Now I can only suggest you write to the DCL offices in Hammersmith London ( maybe under the magical cruise company another name for it), asking cant hurt, I think they will get many requests and priority will be for the cases I mentioned, so maybe ask a few travel agents as well. Virgin cruises for example.

Occasionally, Travel Agents can make advance arrangements to take a few clients on board for a tour on embarkation day. That may only happen in U.S.ports, however.

They "offer" it, BUT I have never seen an actual date listed where an agent could request to come aboard. It always says something along the lines of check back later. Its been that way for about two years. Perhaps I just keep missing it...but that is what I have experienced. I am also 99% sure its only for IATA holders and not for guests of the agent.

EDIT to add, they are called FAM tours.

I know of a few Travel Agent's that have toured the DCL ships at Port Canaveral but I don't believe they were able to bring people with them.

There was a travel agent day in Dover this year as I know someone who was lucky enough to attend.

DCL don't tend to do these but as said others do. In the UK it tends to be Dover or Southampton that get them. Cunard, Crystal, Regeant & P&O all do them plus others probably too

I also saw people, ( I assumed they were TA, from reading their lanyards), on The Magic in Dover this summer.

I also have a friend that is a TA and she told me that she was able to tour The Dream a few years ago in PC.

If by any chance you know a crew member who is on board they can sign you on for the day.

^^^^ These...

These are all good and correct answers.
