Does anyone know what kind of rewards you get with the Disney Visa? The website doesn't go into detail. Can you use the Disney Dream Rewards on the ship for shopping and paying your bill at the end?

Has anyone used it to pay for their cruise? What kind of rewards do you get for that?

Also, does anyone else keep getting the "Sorry, Closed for Maintenance" message when they go to the reservations screen at DCL site? I have been getting this for weeks.

Thanks.

I just recently got my Disney Rewards Dollars in the mail for our July Cruise. The give them to you in increments of 10's...they look like big certificates. I was told that you just apply them toward your bill at or during the cruise. I'm assuming you would just present them to Guest Services but I think you also have to sign them. They are like cash on the ship but can only be used toward your bill on the ship NOT in the stores, etc. Consider them an onboard credit.

Another perk is $50 stateroom credit when you use it to book your cruise. It will appear on your cruise bill--kind a like your disney reward dollars. Say you charge $500 to your room you already have $50 towards that paid. Not sure I made a lot of sence. You can call bank one and they were very helpful.

to Joanb - good point, but I think your math is wrong. The Visa card provides a 1% rebate/certificate, so $500 would give you $5 not $50. As I read mine, the certificates are good for any Disney purchases - WDW, Disneyland, hotels, restaurants, tickets, cruise, and the Disney Store. A very good deal in my book!

In addition to your reward dollars...you get a $50 stateroom credit when booking with the card.

I just got off the phone with them and ordered my $70 for our cruise in August:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We just used these on our 5/24 cruise. Hubby brought them down to Guest Services, and after quite a bit of initial confusion, they were applied. I don't think they've seen a lot of these yet.

Found this on the disney travel agent site:

"Those card members who wish to use their Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM towards a shipboard credit should visit Guest Services once they board the Disney Magic® or Disney Wonder®. A guest service representative will credit the Guest's "Key to the World" card for the amount of their certificate." :D

that is excellent! Thanks...

I am planning on having a bunch of these credits. :D I've been charging everything (new airconditioner in the house, summer vacation, 10 year anniversary gift). It seems there are tons of stuff I am buying this spring.

Cool. I'm sure by the time I get there (october) Guest Services will be very famililer.

inkkognito: How long did it take to get your reward dollars once you called?????

Thanks for the info...that means I can get more when my next statement comes out in 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be too good to be true. I don't have one, but I'm fairly sure it's only 1% of your net spending (so $1 for every $100 you charge). I remember declining their offer because I have a Cruise Reward Visa with MBNA that pays 2%.

Only if you are sailing this year...it didn't help me since we are not sailing until May 2004.

MBNA America Bank offers many reward/rebate type of Visa/MC. Cruise Reward is one of them where you can earn $2 for every $100 in net charges. The amount earned can be redeemed toward cruises on ANY cruiseline, so you're not locked into DCL only. However, there are limitations and you must use their travel agency, who will only quote you the current cruiseline rates. They will not match the further discounted rates offered by the likes of DU and All Seasons.

For our 5/10 Western, it covered $800 of my final payment. When I made my reservation, All Seasons' rate was about $150 less for the same cabin. It also covered $800 of my next Carnival cruise, which has been rolled over for 5 years (because of kids, we've been cruising DCL instead, but eventually we'll get to it). :p :p

Oh, I'm not sure if MBNA restricts sign up of this Visa, but you can call them at 800-421-2110, or visit their website to find out more. They offer many other types of reward cards.

Just a note on using the Disney card to book your cruise -- We used it this week to make our final payment, hoping to get the $50 onboard credit. (this is why we got the card in the first place) our AAA TA was told by Disney that they ENTIRE cost of the cruise had to be put on the card to receive this credit (including the $1,000 deposit we had already made on another card). Our TA credited our American Express account for our $1,000 and then booked the entire trip with the Disney Card -- only then did we get the $50 credit. Just goes to show you that you need to read the fine print! I thought it was a little ridiculous of Disney. The cruise is already priced higher than most -- and we had put our final payment on the card, which was everything less the $1,000 deposit, which we had made last year!

I know Yankee, we had to do the same thing. Transferred 2 yr old reservation over the DU and they credited my initial 1000. deposit made almost 2 yrs ago! Then charged the whole thing on the Disney Visa. I plan to pay off in 6 months so it will work out since it's interest free for that amt of time. We have 2 rooms booked so we get 50.00 credit per room...plus our 80.00 in Rewards....so not bad....every bit helps.
