Does anyone know the difference between the Navigators Verandah (Cat 7) and the regular Verandah (Cat 6)? I assume that once on board there is no difference between a DVC member benefits and guests paying with $ instead of points.

I believe the Navigators Verandah (Cat 7) is enclosed and has only a "window" on the verandah. I'm not positive on this but I am pretty sure.

Doug7856 is correct, the navigators verandah is enclosed with a port hole window.
There is no difference between DVC members on board vs cash customers.

Thank you much, I couldn't find anything anywhere else that explained that.

The category 7 room will only hold up to three guests. The category 6 can hold up to 4 guests in some cases. :)

Cat. 7 and Cat. 6 staterooms both have glass doors that lead to private, outside verandahs. The difference is that the edge of a Navigator's Verandah is a huge, open-air "porthole" (without glass). The edge of a regular Verandah is a horizontal railing with open air above and either plexiglass and bars or a solid metal surface below.

Correct. The only difference is that DVC members get invited to the DVC get-together onboard.

What's the difference between Category 5 and 6? Are the category 7s mostly for those with small children who might climb over the rail or slip through?

The only difference between Cat. 5 & 6 is the deck you are on - Cat. 5 is deck 7 (two levels below the pool deck) and Cat. 6 is on Deck 6.
