Can we book a cruise and then use our points when they become available at a later date?

You can book a cruise 11 months ahead of the departure date as long as there will be (or could be) points in your account on the day of departure. If you need to, you can borrow points from your 2003 use year to take a cruise during your 2002 use year.

If you are asking whether you can book a cruise now, and then at the eleven month mark convert it to a DVC points reservation, the answer is no. You can only make reservations using DVC points through member services, and then can only do it by making a new reservation 11 or fewer months before the start of your cruise.

I have taken 2 previous cruises with my points and just booked 2/9 cruise for a secret porthole room with cash deposit because I wanted to make sure I got the room. DCL did tell me that I can covert that ressie into DVC points and still have that room. It would just require MS to convert my ressie over to them. Which in the system DCL will cancel my one ressie and convert the ressie to DVC. It is no different then when you make your initial ressie with DCL to get on board credit and then switch to TA. DVC is acting as your TA.

Hope this make sense.

Nancy......Thanks so much for posting this valuable information. I had no idea this was possible. Thanks again and I'm printing this up for my DVC notebook:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
