Not having done DCL in about 9 years, I am surprised to learn how expensive it has become. Not that it was inexpensive before. I realize DCL is great value, and IMHO they offer the best overall cruise experience. However, if I can save a little $$ then I am all for it. Does anyone know of any discounts or can you point me in the right direction? We're looking for an August sailing. Thanks!

If you can go the last week of August, it may be a little cheaper or they may offer some last minute gt rate discounts but before then, forget about it. It's high travel season.

Only if you're a Florida resident. You might luck into a slight price reduction if they're not full close to sailing and you don't care which stateroom you get, but even then, the discount won't be anything to write home about.

They do not ever have the kind of discounts that Disney World has on its resorts. The supply and demand equation is totally different with DCL.

I used my Target Redcard discount(5%) to purchase Disney gift cards. While 5% doesn't seem like much, it paid for my gratuities and a bit of an onboard credit, making it similar to offers from other cruise lines(free gratuities, onboard credit offers, etc). Yes, it took some time to call in all of those cards (about 20 min on the phone with guest services), but with so few discount options, it was worth my time!

August 2016? Then like PP, you have a few options. Look at DCL website for any deals, play the gift card game, utilize any credit card rewards (some offer better rewards for travel purchases), get TA reward (OBC), purchase through Costco (8-9pct but provided in Costco cash card after cruise completed).

August 2017? Purchase now if you can, prices usually go up.

Great value...well.... ;) great cruise experience, yes :)
Echo the others re discounts- not much out there

OBB + booking as far out as possible + Target Red Card are probably your best "anytime" discounts if you can't leverage GTY or FL/Canadaian/Military offers. The Raise thing can help, but I find it to be more risk and more hassle than it's worth.

For this August... you are coming right up on the PIF dates for most cruises. If there are a lot of openings still, DCL may release IGT, OGT or VGT rates - often within 60 days of the sail date. I haven't watched recently, but there may be some already. Houseofduck, above posted a link to a thread that watches for these. Early August may not be a likely for such offers as later August due to school schedules.

Otherwise, find a TA who offer good OBC.

Enjoy your cruise!

You can also gain another 2% in rewards that can be used onboard by putting the gift cards into a Disney vacation account. 2% on every $1000 spent on a Disney vacation.

I think there is a 120 day requirement for the 2 pct reward. However, if they already have a DVA, this would be a nice additional discount. Reward comes as a Disney gift card.
