Cruise: Points / Cash Split

If I use DVC points for one fare on DCL and pay cash for the other fare in the cabin, can I book that cash fare through my travel agent (who discounts)? Or do I have to book both with member services? If you have to book the cash res with member services, can you then transfer the res to a travel agent?

When you purchase a cruise through Member Services and pay all points, or points/cash, DVC becomes your travel agency. DVC negotiates a price with DCL for the cruises and that is the price you pay...plus $95 transaction fee.

You also have to pay in full all cash reservations at time of booking. There is no transferring of reservations and any changes incurs another $95 fee.

No, typically not. DVC and DCL negotiate a price. Member Services at DVC has always been very helpful when I have called regarding cash prices for cruises. You can call them and they can give you the prices to help you make a decision. I booked a cruise this past Feb. for an Apr. 2011 cruise. The cash price (including my $95 fee) was about 10% less then the current price on the DCL website.

As noted above, usually not. But it depends on when you book compared to the date you want to sail.

DVC cash price seems to always be more than the DCL/TA cash price you can get by booking far in advance of departure. DVC looks pretty good if you are booking close to departure.
