I just want to be sure I understand correctly. If I want to book a cruise for one of the frist 3 weeks in November of 2011, when I call MS they will take the points directly from my current UY. So, for example, if the cost of the cruise is 300 points and I have in my account 400 2010 points, they will immediately take 300 of my 2010 points even though the cruise is in 2011?

Any other advice on booking a cruise on points? Is it difficult to get the reservation? Am I too late for making one in November of 2011?

Using points to book a cruise is an expensive way to take a cruise, but Disney would never tell you this. Many members still do it but I never would.

Hi i agree with previous post we use cash if we have it. If we cant pay for whole cruise we use cash for one person and points for the other. Your points can go a looooooonnnnngggggeerr way if you use them at the resorts. But if you have to use points then use them and use you money for spending on cruise.

Thanks. I understand that it isn't the best use of points, but we will have extra and are splurging. My example of them being 2010 points is only to help illustrate the actual process of booking. Can anyone answer my question?

You are correct on the process. Also, note that *any* change to make to your reservation (stateroom, date, number of parties, etc.) will result in an additional $95 charge.

We used points for our June, 2011 cruise on the Dream and actually didn't do too bad compared to what the cash equalivant would have been (if we would have rented our points we would have netted about $300). Still, it's pretty sweet to hear that your cruise only costs $95, especially if you have the points to spare. :woohoo: Happy cruising! :goodvibes

My understanding is they take the points from the UY of the trip unless that UY is not available (2 Use Years ahead) then you have the choice of UY. I have documentation from MS a few years ago to this effect though it could have changed. Still, they are pretty good at working it out regardless.

WOW! You did really well with your points!!!
We are cruising on the Dream in July in two connecting 6B verandah rooms and if I rented my ponits for $10 each I would make out with a little over $2,500.
I seriously thought about doing this and paying for our air (along with my mothers air...she purchased the DVC points for us) and having money left over and then thought about using the left over money for a DVC room discount (we will be doing two nights pre stay in a DVC resort) instead of using our points, but I thought it would be way too much of a headache renting about 900 points, I know me and I would be thinking about this all the time, day/night, worrying about who will need to pay me, hasn't paid me, etc. If it was just a few hundred maybe, but 900 is way too much.
We have the points for vacation so I figured, why stress and just use them.

To the OP, as others have said, you are correct.
