Does anyone have the address for the cruise line locator. I had it and lost it through a virus on my computer.

albiats...
Thanx bunches for that DU cruise locators link....it is great!!
Didn't even know it existed...where have I been...LOL???

You're welcome.

It was part of their announcement / changes at the beginning of April.

Just out of curiosity I checked a quote in Cruise Locators for the same the same cruise I booked directly thru DCL. Cat. 6 for family of 4 on 7 night Eastern 8/03. No air and no ins. We booked thru DCL for a total of $3805. and Cruise Locators quoted a rate of $4205. Plus we were able to get mid-ship, which is exactly where we wanted to be. Cruise Locators did not offer any mid-ship rooms, and we only booked 3 days ago. Does Cruise Locators offer something for the price that DCL doesn't?

allshookup -

I just checked the DCL quote system and Cruise Locators for comparisons. You're right, the Cruise Locators price is much higher than the DCL price and I'm not aware of anything extra that they offer that would justify the price difference.

I used a family of 4 with children that are 7 and 10 and a Category 6 cabin.

I went to the DCL system.
For 8/9/03 it was $4605.
For 8/23/03 it was $3805.

Then I went to Cruise Locators.
When I went to 8/9/03 it was $5005.
When I went to 8/23/03, it was $4205.

The first problem that I noticed is that Cruise Locators did not ask the ages of the children, they just used 4 passengers. DCL uses different prices for children and adults.

The Cruise Locators also didn't have an option for the Transfers.

I believe if you wanted a cabin that was midship or located anywhere other than the first 8 cabins shown, you'd have to call or email them to have them get it manually.

I'll try to see if I can tell where the differences could be, but you're right, it is higher than the DCL system.

can't have too many places to check prices!

When using the booking engine at cruise locators or at Dreams Unlimited, you have to go THROUGH the area of pricing and put in the info about passengers BEFORE you will get an ACCURATE price. This is because, as was noted, the system does not account for kids vs. aduls in its initial pricing - it needs passenger info (including birthdates) before it can figure that out. Dreams even has a "warning" about this.

"IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PASSENGERS TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN

Our online booking system does not intially quote the price for a child as a third or forth passenger. The price for children is not reflected until after specific information on each passenger is entered. This is done after you enter credit card information BUT BEFORE you are committed to putting a deposit on your cruise. At the end of the process, you will see a final quote before having to decide whether you wish to purchase that cruise."

DCL's site is already set up with children's pricing from the get go so you don't have this same problem.

So, if you really want to compares apples to apples, you need to go a little further into the process to get the correct pricing. Note that even though you have to enter your credit card info on the pricing page it is not charged until after the passenger info is gathered and you are given a review with the correct prices.

Thank you for the explanation. I do agree that it's great we have more than one option for comparing prices. This discussion board has offered a world of information. Thanks again!
