Cruise Incentive Question

I was thinking of adding on and had a question about the cruise incentive. I know they have restrictions on dates that you can cruise with the incentive, something between Sept. and Dec 2010, or close to that any way. Is there a 3-day cruise that you can take over the Thanksgiving holiday? I am a teacher and can only travel during very specific times. Wondering if anyone has received the incentive and what were the dates you could book? Any holidays?

I believe that one of the dates did coincide with Thanksgiving but whether or not there is still availability or not, I do not know.

I also think I read that there is no way to know for sure if you will be able to get your dates until after you close and get your voucher. But, if you know there is only one sailing that you can do, I would make sure, through your guide, that there won't be a problem.

I am a teacher as well so knew that most of the cruise dates wouldn't work so we went with the points discount.

Good luck!

We booked the 2009 tday cruise. We booked it a few months ago with our voucher. I recently called regarding my ressie and was asking about other room options. I know the connecting rooms are pretty much gone. She said the ship was close to full. But I am not sure how full.

The info that I was told is that availability for specific date isn't determined until after we close. Some cabin upgrades are available for a added fee per person. Cabin assignments will not be made until 30 days prior to sailing.

I thought it a better idea to take the greater per point discount than take the cruise. If you have enough, you can always rent your points and pay cash for the cruise at the time you can go.

Also, the cruise is for 4. Has anyone upgraded to 5? We have 3 sons!

There is fee for 5th person. I don't know how DCL determines which passenger would determine the amount that needs to be paid - can't say for certain but depending upon your children's ages maybe it wouldn't be all that much ( if the oop passenger was 3 or under ) ??

I just called to check on this a few days ago (we have 3 children as well). The cost to upgrade to a Cat 4 is $662, to add an additional room was around $900. We are trying to decide if we want to extra bathroom in the extra room or the upgrade to Cat 4..... Hope that helps!

I guess for me, I would like the category 4 and $662 isn't bad at all! I just need to get the dates that I want, that may change the price too! Thanks for letting me know!

Hello,
I spoke to my guide regarding the dates and he was very specific. He did indicate that Holiday sailings were not included but that most dates were between Sept-Dec 11 and did not include the Thanksgiving Cruise or any sping dates. These dates were for the 7-day cruise option and I do know that more dates were available for the 4-day incentive. But your guide has the specific dates which can be given to you. Upgrades are available with restrictions and can only be booked once closed.

I currently have an add-on we are doing to recieve the incentive and I had my guide work out both the additional incentive for not taking the cruise and the one including the cruise. It worked out to be a better deal to take the cruise because even on value time the 7-day is worth over $4000 at cat 9 and to upgrade it would cost $662 to a cat 4 and you not getting back that much of an incentive with a 200 point add-on. Addtionally we split our purchase so we could purchase two contracts all with no closing fees.

Your best bet, ask your guide for the dates upfront prior to contract this way you can be sure to use the incentive, that's why our guide gave the dates prior so he would be assured this was our best deal!
